Joint Security Project

Goal: To develop a national view of NREN-connected institutions’ security positions.

Technology: Open-source network monitoring technology deployed; central platform will aggregate data and make it available to the data owners.

People: An IT person from each participating institution.

Process: Participants collaborate on a joint implementation strategy and policies governing data stewardship and handling threat alerts.

Funding: CANARIE funding to support institutional participation.

Result?

> Better understanding of the security positions of the NREN and NREN-connected institutions

> Identification of opportunities to heighten security position

> Opportunity to develop funding proposal for a comprehensive security program for NREN-connected institutions
