Charles County values a sustainable, smart growth approach to our community development needs. We rec-ognize that it is imperative to respect and preserve Mother Earth in every decision we make – being ever mindful of the environment.

•Opening Keynote: (Former) Governor Parris Glendening, pioneer and champion of smart growth, and current president of the Smart Growth Leadership Institute;

•A number of informative morning and afternoon panels on topics including Smart Growth, Sustainability in the Built Environment, and Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Clean Energy;

•A special lunchtime roundtable discussion – Today’s Barriers & Tomorrow’s Opportunities in Adopting and Profiting in Sustainability – hosted by NBC4 personality and Going Green Anchor, Wendy Rieger; and

• A mix of local, state and federal officials including Richard Hall, Maryland Secretary of Planning.

Finally, following the Symposium we invite all event participants to join us, select government and indus-try panelists, policy-makers, and professionals for a Green Networking Mixer at the Greene Turtle in La Plata.
