Add remaining ingredients, except water, and mix with the paddle attachment for two minutes. Add the boiling water and mix until smooth. Pour the batter into your prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely. When the cake is cool, spread a thick layer of Chocolate Fudge Sauce over the top to frost it. In a stand mixer with the whisk at- tachment, whisk the cream until soft peaks form. Gently add the caramel to the cream and continue whipping until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped crearm over the cake and sprinkle with the crushed candy canes to serve.
