Visible Learning Professional Learning On Saturday 6 th April, Canobolas PS hosted a full day of professional learning in our library based on Visible Learning classroom strategies. This was the second valuable workshop that our staff has attended around Visible Learning. This one dealt mainly with giving students strategies on how to get out of ‘the pit’. Strategies encourage students to be independent learners with a positive approach to learning. Presenters came from Sydney and Adelaide for the training. Term 1 Wrap-up It has been a very positive start to the year. Our new Kindergarten students have settled in nicely and are already blending their sounds to read and write their first words. Year 6 students are leading by example and help out every day in small ways making a big difference. All classes have had a full term of work and teachers regularly report positive progress. We have had a lot of parent support this term both in classrooms and in P&C events, which is highly valued by staff and students and a testament to our warm Canobolas community. Next term there are several visits to the theatre and a visit from Bell Shakespeare. Tournament of Minds, Debating and Musica Viva also take place. School reports and parent meetings occur at the end of the term. Many thanks for all of the ways you support our school. Have a safe and happy holiday and we’ll see you back for another great term starting on the 30 th April. The profit we made this term, approx. $4,000, will go towards our proposed outdoor play space, which we are hoping will be completed over the winter school holidays. Details will be shared over the coming weeks.

If you have any feedback, ideas or discussion items for the P&C, please either email [email protected], write it down and leave it at the school office or come to our next meeting on Wed 15th May from 7pm.
