Dear Brothers and Sisters, As the new Elk year begins, I would like to say from the bottom of my heart, to the entire membership of our Lodge that I am truly honored to be elected has the incoming Exalted Ruler for the 2020-2021 year. Our officer corps is complete and ready to Charge Ahead! into the new year, continuing to provide the service of Elkdom we have all come to expect, and for the benefit of all our brothers and sisters of the Lodge. With the support of the Lodge membership, we are committed to having a successful and fun year as the calendar is full of activities and events scheduled for all members to enjoy and participate.
As Elks, our ability to serve our charitable endeavors and our community is proportional to our member participation. I am eager to see as many of our members at the Lodge and during the activities as this will increase our impact to our charitable deeds. Please join us in continuing the Elk tradition of making our members feel welcome and part of a wonderful fraternal organization and part of the family that it is. I am thankful of the membership backing and confidence and very proud to serve as your newly elected Exalted Ruler. Fraternally Yours, Jeff Mackie
Exalted Ruler
Jeff Mackie
Covid-19 (the Corona Virus) has put our Lodge in a very difficult position. We are closed and unable
to generate any income during the closure. This forced closure has cost us the ability to generate
money from the bar, meals, member rentals, filming, etc.
I conservatively estimate we are losing income of $15,000 per month.
That estimate does not even include income from special events like the Variety Show or any special
parties we have. Yes, we still have dues income and money from our RV area, but that is it!
Dues and RV area usage will definitely not keep our club open.
I am asking every member to help us by donating $25.00 or more for each month we are closed. If
our members are able to do that we will be able to replace $9,000 of lost income each month. That
would leave us with a $6,000 loss each month we are closed. I think we could survive that for a few
months, but after that we would be in financial trouble! Please mail your check to the Lodge office.
I am hopeful this lockdown will not last past Easter (the target set by President Trump), but that is an
unknown thing right now. Lastly, please follow the CDC Guidelines and stay healthy and safe.
Thank you in advance for your participation and for your understanding.
Randy Lewis, Chairman Trustees

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Thank you for electing me as your Leading Knight. I am truly honored and look forward to this upcoming year! Due to the circumstances we are dealing with now, all lodge events have been postponed until further notice. Please continue to check your emails for updates.
If any member should need assistance in these times, please feel free to reach out. “Elks Care, Elks Share” is and will always be our motto. I wish everyone well and stay safe. Looking forward to reuniting with everyone soon and resuming all our wonderful lodge activities.
Lots of love to all
Fraternally Yours,
Marina Mackie
Dear Brothers and Sisters;
Thank you for putting your trust in me as Lecturing Knight for the 2020 – 2021 year. As we start this new, surely challenging, Elks year let us pro-tect ourselves and our fellow Elks, family, neighbors and friends, as the antlers on our alter protect us, by sheltering safely at home.
With that said, we can stay connected and reach out to each other via phone, text, social media, email or the old-fashioned snail mail. Maybe send a greeting card or make a call to someone you know is alone and/or could use cheering up – receiving a card or hearing your voice might be just what they need.
Please stay safe and healthy.
Fraternally Yours,
Cheryl Kobashigawa
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
I want to thank you all for the honor of serving as your Loyal Knight for what is sure to be a challenging year for us all.
While restrictions on social gatherings limit our ability to gather, we never the less share a bond that is unique and special.
As a fraternal order, we are there for each other, so please don't hesitate to reach out.
Take care of yourselves, and each other.
Fraternally Yours,
Simon Coombs

CHEMPI Occupational Therapists help kids learn how to overcome their disabilities so that they can learn how to better adapt to society. Through individual home instruction, the goal for all children in the program is to become as independent and self-sufficient as they can. Our occupational therapists, working with the parents, teach our children the basics, from feeding and dressing skills, to dealing with problems in sensory integration.
CHEMPI Physical Therapists travel from home to home in California and Hawaii to evaluate and treat children with a wide range of disabilities. Their focus is to help these children learn or improve important motor skills by educating or re-educating muscles and increase strength, endurance and coordination. Parent involvement helps increase the rate of success.
CHEMPI Language Pathologists can diagnose a variety of communication disorders and coordinate a home program of therapy with the parent. Many speech-language problems are addressed by the staff, including swallowing or feeding difficulties.
CHEMPI Preschool Vision Screening Program was created in 1965 to screen preschool children 2½ to 5 years of age for vision deficiencies. It is the goal of the program to significantly decrease the number of children at risk for amblyopia (“lazy eye”) and other vision problems such as astigmatism, hyperopia, and myopia by checking their eyes early on.

The Beginning of the Veterans Administration
The United States has the most comprehensive system of assistance for Veterans of any nation in the world, with roots that can be traced back to 1636, when the Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony were at war with the Pequot Indians. The Pilgrims passed a law that stated that disabled soldiers would be supported by the colony.
Later, the Continental Congress of 1776 encouraged enlistments during the Revolutionary War, providing pensions to disabled soldiers. In the early days of the Republic, individual states and communities provided direct medical and hospital care to Veterans. In 1811, the federal government authorized the first domiciliary and medical facility for Veterans. Also in the 19th century, the nation's Veterans assistance program was expanded to include benefits and pensions not only for Veterans, but for their widows and dependents.
Following the Civil War, many state Veterans homes were established. Since domiciliary care was available at all state Veterans homes, incidental medical and hospital treatment was provided for all injuries and diseases, whether or not of service origin. Indigent and disabled Veterans of the Civil War, Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, and Mexican Border period, as well as the discharged regular members of the Armed Forces, received care at these homes.
