The remote controller RC-1 gives you the freedom to
take pictures without pressing the shutter button. This
allows you to set up the scene, and get in the picture,
too.
Removing and attaching the controllerRemovalPress the red release button to remove the controllerfrom the holder O.o Attach the holder to the neckstrap as illustrated @.
Attachment1) Hold the controller with the red button up.2) Insert the bottom of the controller into the holder at a
sl ight angle making sure that the small tab f i ts intothe hook@.
3) Snap the top of the controller on to secure safelywith a cl ick.

Operation1) Focus the subject and set the focus mode switch on
the lens to "M".
o When focusing with the control button, standstraight in front oi the lens.
2) Press the self-timer/remote controt button ( s)i ) onthe camera to actjVate signal reception @ .

N)i " button is pressed. press
again to continue remote controloperation.3) Choose the desired time delay by sliding the release
timing selector to the appropriate position. "2" pro-vides a two-second delay and "o" is immediaterelease. The "L" is lock, set here when f inished O.
4) Press the control's button black to take a picture.The self-timer & remote control operation indicatorstarts bl inking @.
o Signal transmission may be impossible in strongbackl i t condit ion.Use the holder as illustrated for better camera posi-t ion O.The remote controller operates up to 5 m/16.4 ftaway from directly in front of the camera. The dis-tance decreases when shooting at an angle.Because certain kinds of f luorescent l ight tubesmay emit l ight at frequencies that are the same asthat of the infrared remote controller of your camera,there is a sl ight possibi l i ty that a picture may betaken at random before pressing the remote control-ler's button.
REMEDY: Place the camera away from f luorescentl ight.
Mirror Up PhotographyMirror up photography is possible by pressing the con-trol button while using custom function CF13 in case ofthe EOS10 or custom function CF7 in case of theEOS1OO/ELAN and with the release t iming selector setto"2".

Replacing the BatteriesReplace the controller's batteries by two new 3V
CR122O batteries when the shutter will not release
from 5 m/16.4tt.1) Using your thumbs, sl ide the battery cover off in the
direction of the arrow G).2) Remove the batteries using a precision screwdriver'
3) Replace the batteries with the plus side on both
facing up and replace the cover securely so that it
closes with a cl ick (9.
o Wipe the batteries with a dry cloth before loading to
ensure proper contact.o Battery performance deteriorates in temperatures
below O"C/32"F. Please keep the remote controller
warm before using. Cold batteries can be reused
when restored to room temperature'

swallowed, contact a physician immediately.
