Preparing for Next Sunday Third Sunday of Easter

In today’s first reading, Peter explains that Jesus has fulfilled David’s prophecy regarding his rising from the dead. The second reading speaks of Christ’s blood as the means of our redemption. In the Gospel, Jesus appears to two disciples on the road to Emmaus. They recognize him only as he breaks bread with them.

Raffle Tickets

Hopefully, everyone has received their OLMC Bazaar raffle tickets. If you haven’t gotten your tickets, please pick them up in the Parish Center. The first Carmel Downs winner for $100 was James Mushinski and the second Carmel Downs winner for $75 was Val and Connie Garcia. Our last Carmel Downs drawing will be held after all Mass this Sunday, April 27 for $50. Remember, to be eligible, the seller must have sold their $100 quota. You may turn in your tickets to the Parish Center or drop them into the collection basket on Sunday. The bazaar is a major fundraiser for the parish and we need everyone’s support. If you have any questions regarding the main raffle please call John & Lillian Kozel at 832-439-6634.

Bazaar Meetings

There will be a Bazaar meeting on Monday, April 28 at 7:00 PM in the Parish Center. Everyone is invited to come and help plan our bazaar.

Help Wanted For Bazaar Booths

Our Bazaar is Sunday May 4! Our tents for the bazaar will arrive on Thursday, May 1. On Friday and Saturday, May 2 & 3, we need help setting up the booths. We will begin around 9:00 AM in the church parking lot. If there are any parishioners who are available to help us with setting up, please call the Parish Center (Estela) at 713-645-6673 or John Kozel at 832-439-6634. We need as many hands as possible to come out and help with the booths. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE come out if you can.

Esperamos que todos hayan recibido sus boletos para la rifa en el Bazar NSMC. Si usted no ha conseguido sus boletos, por favor pase a recogerlos en el Centro Parroquial. Saint Augustine tells us that " .....He who sings ...prays twice ..." Much GLORY was given to our Risen Lord!! And so it is fervently sung in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Community .... AD MAJOREM DEI GLORIAM!!!

OLMC School News Elementary Science Fair

Students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade submitted science projects, which were judged in our annual science fair on Tuesday of this week. Students produced some amazing projects, utilizing the scientific method and procedures learned in class and in their own research and study. Each year the top students move on to the archdiocesan science fair. This year's winners for the OLMC science fair are Kindergarten: Francisco Munoz, Sophia Perez, Ashley Garcia, First Grade: Samuel Munoz, Arabella Smith, Jason Taylor, Second Grade: Allison Fairman, Lucia Castillo, Mia & Lauren, Third Grade: Alisa Vargas, Kimberly Lopez, Adam Ramasute, Fourth Grade: Jada Lejia, Mabel Lopez, Andrew Ramirez. We would like to congratulate these winners, who will go on to represent OLMC and to compete against students from other Catholic schools in the Archdiocesan Science Fair.

Enroll Now, Classes are Filling! OLMC School is now accepting registrations for the 2014-15 school year, which begins in mid-August. Of special interest are those families with 3 or 4 year old children who are interested in our Pre-Kindergarten program. Our Pre-K program is an academic program in which students begin to learn the fundamentals of school behavior, academics, and faith. Students begin learning their letters, numbers, colors, prayers, etc, in Pre-K3 and in Pre-K4, they begin learning to read with the Happily Ever After reading readiness program from Rowland Reading Foundation. If your child will be age 3 and toilet-trained by September 1, 2014 they qualify to enroll in Pre-K3. If they will be age 4 by September 1, 2014, they will qualify to enroll in Pre-K4. Feria de la Ciencia en la Escuela Elemental Los estudiantes de los grados Kindergarten a 5º, presentaron proyectos de ciencia, que fueron juzgados en nuestra feria de la Ciencia anual el día Martes de esta semana. Los estudiantes realizaron algunos proyectos increíbles, utilizando el método y los procedimientos aprendidos en clase y por medio de su propia investigación y estudio científico. Cada año los mejores estudiantes pasan a la feria de ciencias arquidiocesana. ¡Matricúlese ya, las clases se están llenando! La escuela OLMC está aceptando inscripciones para el año escolar 2014-15, que comienza a mediados de Agosto. De especial interés son las familias con niños de 3 ó 4 años de edad que estén interesados en el programa de Pre-Kinder. Nuestro programa de Pre-K es un programa académico en el que los estudiantes comienzan a aprender los fundamentos de la conducta escolar, académicos, y de fe. Los estudiantes comienzan a aprender sus letras, números, colores, oraciones, etc., en Pre-K3 y en Pre-K4, empiezan a aprender a leer con el programa de preparación de la Fundación Rowland Reading.
