Principal’s messageWhat a great start to the term, all the students have come back very settled and ready to learn. Thank you to Mrs McLaughlan, Mrs Pengilly and Miss Dixon for “holding fort” last week while I was away.
It’s CBCA Book Week and we are holding our annual Book Fair in the library this week. There’s a great selection of books which can be purchased before school and lunch from Mon-Wed and during library time from Mon-Fri. All profits go back into our school library to purchase new books. Thank you for all your support!
We are hosting Canowindra Community Reading Day and we have gone “virtual” this year, along with everything else. Please see the flyer in the newsletter. All of our K-2 classes will be participating in this free event next Tuesday 27th Oct.
There will be a Rugby League gala day held in Cowra next Thursday 29th Oct. This will be a non-competitive day in lieu of Peachy and Richardson Shield’s which was cancelled earlier in the year. Unfortunately, parents are not permitted to attend. We have organised a bus and all students will need to travel to the event on the bus from school. Permission notes will be going home this week to all students who have expressed an interest.
School photos went off without a hitch yesterday with everyone looking very smart in their summer uniform. Parents should receive their photos within the next 4-5 weeks.
Have a great week

Clarification for schools - identifying and responding to unwell students.
• During the COVID-19 pandemic, anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, loss of taste, and loss of smell),
even mild symptoms, should not be at school.
• If, after testing negative, the person has ongoing symptoms which persist beyond 10 days, the person (staff or students) should arrange to
see their doctor. The medical assessment should consider whether the symptoms are typical for that person (for example seasonal, allergic rhinitis), and provide documentation for the school if this is the case. If there are new symptoms at any time, the
person should be tested again.
• Isolated incidents of sneezing or coughing may not indicate that a student is suffering from an
illness. Staff should talk with students about how they are feeling to determine if a cough/sneeze is an
isolated incident or whether the student is unwell. Where a student is unwell arrangements should be
made to send them home.
• Schools should encourage staff and parents to arrange for the person who is unwell to be tested so they can return to school as soon possible once
their symptoms have resolved to minimise the absence from school. For people who are unwell
with respiratory symptoms, a negative COVID-19 test result must be received and sighted by the school.
Issue 7 Book ClubIssue 7 Book Club Order forms went home with students last week. The school does not accept payments via cash or cheque for Book Club. All orders MUST be paid for via LOOP.Visit www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP

Tell Them From Me Survey - Closes Friday 23rd October
The Tell Them From Me surveys provide an insight into student engagement and wellbeing, and the impact of teaching practices at our school, from the perspective of students, teachers and parents.
The surveys provide information that can help schools in their annual planning and reporting activi-ties, by helping to identify emerging issues and plan for improvement.
The parent survey helps to clarify and strengthen the important relationship between parents and the school. The parent survey is anonymous and helps to build an accurate and timely picture that schools can use for practical improvements.
Parents can complete a different survey for each child they have at the school if they wish.
The parent survey is available to all parents via the below link:
http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/cano20
The survey window will be open until the 23rd October 2020. Please take the time to complete this survey as your responses are valued and very much appreciated.
