Principal’s message Thank you for making our Education Week another memorable one. Our annual Book Fair was another great success with over $3415 in sales. Thanks to Ms Clements for all her organisation and time dedicated to selling the books last week. It’s always great to see so many visitors at our Open Day and the students really love showing everyone their classroom and sharing their
work. Thank you to Canowindra Bakery for donating all the bread for the sausage sizzle, very much appreciated, hope everyone enjoyed their snags in bread! We also had another very successful P&C Colour Fun Run. Huge thank you to all the people who helped with the obstacles, checkpoints, music etc. it all created a wonderful atmosphere and huge enjoyment for all our kids and we were extremely lucky with the weather. Hopefully everyone got some nice rain over the weekend! Donations can still be made up to 2 weeks after the event.
This week we will be celebrating Science Week in Peer Support groups on Wednesday. There will be 4 experiments the students will be engaged in during the middle session including Dancing Popcorn, Pepper Tension, Buoilding Bubbles and Magic Balloons.
During Week 5 we will celebrate CBCA Book Week and our school will be holding its biannual Book Week Parade on Thursday 22nd August. The students have been busy organising their outfits for their Book Week character. These outfits don’t have to be elaborate or expensive, please use what you have got, but we always look forward to the spectacle. Also in book week is the Canowindra Community Reading Day which is being held at St Edwards School this year on Wednesday 21st August. Our Kindergarten and Year 1 will be attending the morning to share their love of books and reading with other emerging readers. Some of our senior students will be attending a free session in the afternoon with an illustrator. Permission notes will be going home this week.District Athletics permission notes will be going home this week as well. This will be held on Friday 23rd August in Grenfell. A bus has been organised and all students are expected to pay for the bus regardless of travel arrangements. Parents of athletes are invited to travel on the bus for a cost of $10, we have a limited number of seats, first in best dressed.
Have a great week!

The Grower- Set of Books donated by John NicolettiThanks to Mrs Melissa Hammond for nominating our school to receive Author Alice Mabin’s two books, The Grower, The heartbeat of Australia and The Grower, The roots of Australia.
This set of books is proudly donated by John Nicoletti to enable young Australians to connect with where their food and fibre comes from. As an adolescent John left home with $200 to his name and carved out a great life for himself in agriculture. John is walking proof that anything is possible and hopes that, through these books, he can inspire the farmers of tomorrow by highlighting the importance of Australia’s agriculture industry and the amazing career opportunities it provides.
