Call for Participants
A Half day Capacity Building Workshop on ‘Role of Legal fraternity in Strengthening the Implementation of the Biological Diversity Act and Rules with Focus on ABS Provisions’ is being organized by Gujarat National Law University through the National Project on Access and Benefit Sharing under the United Nation Environment Programme–Global Environment Facility -Ministry of Environment & Forests (UNEP–GEF–MoEF) Project on “Strengthening the Implementation of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and Rules, 2004, with focus on its Access and Benefit Sharing Provisions” with the cooperation of National Biodiversity Authority and in partnership with State Project Unit of Gujarat on 16 May 2015
How to Apply
Industry, Legal Academicians, Implementing Agencies, Policy makers, Practitioners, members of NGOs, Research Scholars and other Academicians working in the field of Agriculture, Medicine, Ecology and Environmental Science are especially invited to apply to attend this workshop. The workshop has limited number of seats and will be selected from the list of applicants or nominees by Ministries/Departments. Participants will receive a certificate of participation for attending the Workshop
Please send us a mail on [email protected] in expressing your interest to participate in workshop mentioning your designation/profile by May 14, 2015. Successful applicants will be intimated by May 15, 2015.
Objectives
The workshop aims at equipping participants with the following broad objectives:
To improve the public understanding of biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods with focus on its International and National Legal Regime.
To strengthen the capacity of stakeholders to implement the legal provisions of Biodiversity Act, 2002 and rules
To explore the issues and challenges for implementation of Biodiversity Act, 2002
To enhance the capacity of stakeholders to design and implement practical strategies, legislation, and guidelines on Access Benefit Sharing provisions
