Will be made public. What I. the Leeds Unitary Development Plan Review? The Leeds Unitary Development Plan (the LIDP) was adopted by the City Council on 1st August 2001. It is the standory develop-ment phin tbr the Leeds area and forms rho basis for decisions on land um planning. The LIDP identifies /and for new development and provides

DEVELOPMENT URBAN ----- CAPACITY

STUDY The Govemment bas advised all then/ authorities to prepare an Urban Capacity Study (TICS)cr part of the development plan process. The ahn of the UCS is to ensure that all potential sources of housing land in the main urban area ere properly enplored to reduce the need to use greenfield land in less sustainable locations.The Council has undertaken a study which suggest, housing

potential in the order 0034,000 dwellings. The study backs up our appnoach hr Efoushm and PAS rite, It is important to note that it D not the purpose of the TICS to idenfify site, It D about assessthg potential and makMg a judgement about how much of it might be realised vox the life of the Plan. A first draft of the UCS aettthg out the methodology, the assumptions made and identifying the contribution anficipated from various potenfial sources has been produced (see - Haw can I find eut more?) The UCS will be further refilled as the Review progresses
