When and where:
Ø Friday 30 April - People attending the laying out session on Friday should meet at the “Bonnyrigg” planting property, 2259 Glen Davis Road at 10am (map included below).
Ø Saturday 1 May – Planting starts at 8am at the “Bonnyrigg” planting site, (map included below)

We hope to be able to hold the Saturday night community dinner, but this is subject to confirmation from the caterers. Further information will be provided when available.. BE COVID-19 SAFE Although Coronavirus restrictions have been eased, the virus has not gone away and remains an ever-present threat. It is essential that everyone attending the planting plays their part in minimising the risks of infection and transmission. If you are feeling unwell, are experiencing any possible symptoms, or have recently been in contact with someone who has tested positive to Covid-19, please do not come to the planting. It is essential that everyone entering the site signs on and provides their name and contact details . This information is required by health authorities for use in contact tracing, in the event of any subsequent Covid -19 cases . If you arrive late, and there is no one at the entrance gate, please contact one of the committee members (yellow or orange fluoro vests) so that your details can be recorded. Please practice social distancing (1.5m) and good personal hygiene. Wash or sanitise your hands frequently. We will be providing hand sanitiser at a number of locations on the site but it recommended that you also bring your own. Consider wearing a mask. Masks will be available if you require one.

2 Capertee Tree Planting Weekend Information Kit
WHAT TO BRING CHECKLIST Essential • Hand sanitiser • Mattocks, spades or other digging tools, if you have them (please bring extras if you can) • Breakfast, lunch and snacks • Water (bladders in back-packs are ideal – leave your hands-free to plant) • Sturdy footwear (and sock savers or gaiters if you have them) • Sunscreen and hat • Waterproof jacket • Gloves • Any medications you require and a personal first aid kit if you have one • Sleeping materials if you’re staying in the Valley (pillows, sleeping bags etc.). Recommended • Camping chair • Knee pads • Face masks IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW • There are no services in the valley. The nearest fuel and stores are at Capertee, Rylstone and Kandos so please
ensure that you have all provisions that you might require before driving into the valley. • In general, mobile ‘phones will not operate in the valley. There are two public ‘phones in the Valley: one at Glen Alice
(next to the Community Hall) and one at Glen Davis. • If you have digging tools such as mattocks and spades please bring them but ensure they are clearly labelled. Extra
tools are always appreciated as many people do not have their own. • If you, or any of your group, have any medical conditions, such as severe asthma or allergies, that we should be
aware of please advise us beforehand, or the supervisor of your planting site on the day. • If you have been collecting milk cartons for the Regent Honeyeater project please bring them to the planting. • If you are unable to come for some reason please advise Iain Paterson [email protected] 0429 300 234 • In the event of rain, the planting will still go ahead. The planning involved in organising these planting
weekends means that it is NOT possible to reschedule. Please note: that if it is raining on the coast or mountains it may not necessarily be raining west of the ranges. The Capertee Valley is a notorious rain shadow area. STARTING TIME ON SATURDAY - We appreciate that 8.00AM is an early starting time but please endeavour to be there early as this will ensure that we will finish planting and watering on Saturday. This will leave Sunday free to look for Regent Honeyeaters or to sit back and relax if you wish. PLEASE READ THE ENCLOSED INFORMATION ON HOW TO PLANT YOUR TREE! It is very important that trees are planted correctly to maximise the chances of survival. Demonstrations on how to increase your trees’ chances of survival will be conducted before you are let loose but a little bit of study beforehand will put you in good stead. PHYTOPHTHORA - or ‘root rot’, is a dieback-causing fungus that we want to keep well away from our plantings. To assist us, please ensure that your tools, gloves and boots are free of soil before leaving home. We will have a disinfecting spray (diluted methylated spirits) on site with which to treat all implements as an added precaution. WHO TO CONTACT - Should you need to contact anyone on during the weekend about any problems or you are lost, contact Iain Paterson on 0429 300 234. However mobile coverage in the valley is lmited and variable. SAFETY & FIRST AID - Please read the included Occupational Health & Safety information. While we have not had any safety concerns on previous tree planting weekends we have carried out risk assessments for our volunteer activities. Every effort is taken to provide a safe working environment and all that is generally required is that volunteers are aware of the risks and employ common sense in avoiding them. First Aid Officers and kits will be readily identifiable on the day should they be required. Looking forward to seeing you at the planting. Maps included below.
