Capital Campaign Report

Good news! As of the quarter ending December 2019, we have achieved our parish “standard” target of $750,000 for the Bicentennial Campaign. This is the portion of our campaign in which money received is split 50/50 between our parish and the wider Diocese of Charleston campaign. The 50/50 split is now over. From now on, contributions to the campaign will be divided with 97% going to Our Lady of Lourdes and only 3% going to the diocese to cover the administrative costs.

Here are the totals, as of December 2019:

Campaign goal Total Pledged Total Received Outstanding Pledges $2,000,000 $2,192,985 $750,820.28 $1,432,312.61

When we receive our quarterly campaign deposit later this month, it should bring our total campaign funds received by the parish (December 2018 to December 2019) to $375,795.67 (50% of $750,000 plus 97% of $820.28). Of course, as you might imagine, a lot was received at the end of the year, not just for our campaign but across the diocese. So they are care-fully double checking everything to make sure of the accuracy of the numbers.

Construction Report

You can see how nicely the project to complete St. Bernadette Hall is proceeding. It should be complete by mid to late summer. Here is what we’ve spent so far on the project:

McMillan Pazdan Smith (architect) $ 66,550.63 Uldrick Builders (general contractor) $ 246,031.92 J.E.S (kitchen equipment) $ 32,760.38

Total to date $ 345,342.93

We’ve still got a long way to go: the total cost of the project is going to be approximately $2,000,000, so it’s important that we keep paying our pledges so that the project is fully funded.

My heartfelt thanks to all of you who have made pledges to the campaign — it is your generosity that is making this work benefitting the whole parish possible.

A note about tax statements: If you made contributions to the capital campaign, you should receive a tax statement from the Catholic Community Foundation of South Carolina reflecting those contributions. Contributions to the capital campaign are NOT reflected in your tax statement from Our Lady of Lourdes. If you don’t receive a statement from the CCFSC, let us know and we’ll help you get one.

Diocese of Charleston Convocation of Priests: It’s time again for that. I will be away Monday through Thursday, January 13 through 16. No daily Mass this week until Friday, January 17.
