Captain John Mullan Neighborhood Council General Meeting Minutes

Date: April 25, 2017 Time: 6:30 PM

Location: Hellgate Middle School Cafeteria, 2385 Flynn Lane, Missoula Montana 59808

Leadership Team Member/Moderator: Antony Jo Others Present: Jane Kelly—Neighborhood Coordinator; Karen Gasvoda – Program Assistant; Jordan Hess, City Council Member; Kevin Slovarp—City Engineer There were approximately 48 people in attendance.

1. Jane Kelly welcomed everyone and introductions were made.

2. Jane distributed a flyer on behalf of Laval Means on an upcoming Missoula DesignExcellence Community Workshop that will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at theHoliday Inn Missoula Downtown from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. All were invited to attend.

3. Kevin Slovarp gave a presentation on the Designs for Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Safety on England Blvd – approximately $100,000 in funding is available from the England Boulevard S.I.D. There were questions and comments. Five options were voted on. The results were as follows:

a. Tina Avenue, total cost approx. $64,000 – 0 ayes, 35 naysb. Connery Way, total cost approx. $7,000 – 4 ayes, 33 naysc. Yorkshire Place, total cost approx. $2,000 – 22 ayes, 10 naysd. Lexington Avenue, total cost approx. $132,000 – 2 ayes, 35 nayse. Mary Jane Blvd, total cost approx. $58,000 – 32 ayes, 5 nays

Next steps: Kevin will meet with the Design Engineer on the final design. Then bids for construction will be solicited through a bid process. The final design will then be presented before the Public Works Committee for approval of the construction contract award, and then it will go before City Council for final approval.
