April 9, 1912 It is 3 days before the Titanic is to begin it’s journey.
When I look at my life before being assigned to the Titanic, I remember playing with my daughter Helen, and watching my wife Eleanor cook her best meals. Thinking about my recent voyages, I have never gotten into an accident that is worth talking about. Everyone has or has had a strange feeling about the Titanic, but, while with me they know nothing bad can happen.

April 10,1912 As I am sitting looking out of my bedroom window, and
reflecting on my life, I have fond memories of my childhood, growing up near the coast. As I was little, I loved seeing the ships go in and out of the harbor. My parents once gave me a ship in a bottle, and it was of the largest ship in the world. But, now being able to look up at the Titanic, I truly see, that she is the largest ship in the world. What an astounding sight she is.

April 11, 1912 I am to set sail on the largest ship in the world to
America tomorrow morning. A huge burden is laying on my shoulders, and it is getting heavier by the hour. This is my last voyage across the Atlantic. I have decided to retire, so that I may be with Eleanor and Helen, much more than I have been during the last few years. But, to my dismay, I must leave my home, once again, I have to be at the Southampton docks by 7:oo a.m. .
