Berry Muffin: Oh, the same as when I left blueberry. Want one?

Raspberry Raul: Mmmmm! I smell something..it smells like blueberry muffins.

Captain Munch: Are those sails in good order?

Raspberry Raul: As good as ever. Did Sailor Lynch decide to go fishing?

Berry Muffin: Hes been over the right side of the boat all morning for hours fishing.

    Where have you been?

Captain Munch: Lets discuss that later. I need to speak with SailorLynch.

(Sailor Lynch enters all tangled in string from his fishing pole and an empty bucket.)

Captain Munch: The fish are not biting? You have as much string around you as youmust have had in that water. No wonder those fish arent biting. How would they evenreach the bait?

Sailor Lynch: I forgot the bait.

Captain Munch: You what! How do you expect to catch any fish without bait?

Sailor Lynch: I thought Id give it a try anyhow. Anyone have some worms?

Raspberry Raul: Sure! Look at these? (Show fake worms or gummy worms)

Berry Muffin: (With a muffin in her mouth mumbles) Yikes! I am out of here! (Turns towalk away some)

Captain Munch: Put that worm on your hook and drop that line out into this water here.

Looks like some good catch out there now.

(Others work to remove string while Berry Muffin eats her muffins on the side)

Captain Munch: Now throw it out there.

    The Big Catch Bible Lesson

Hey, lets go fishing, said Simon Peter. I heard there are some good fishing over inthe Sea of Galilee. What do you say? Sounds good to me, said Thomas. So, they andsome others all got into a boat and off they went.

They fished for a long time, but were catching nothing. Some people would have givenup already. I have only gone fishing once in my life, and will not touch a worm foranything. Once, my husband went fishing in the Atlantic Ocean, and caught anenormous salmon. It was about 3 feet in length and 50 pounds. He was afraid that hewas not going to be able to pull it in, but he made it. He did not give up! What a catch! You can guess what we had for some dinners fish!

The disciples continued to fish all during the night with no success. Early in the morning,Jesus came out to where they were probably about ready to fall asleep after such a longnight. He called out to them asking if they had caught any fish. Jesus saw their emptynets. He wanted to give them a big catch.

Jesus looks upon us when we are in need of food, clothes, in need of help to pass atest, or for anything that troubles us, and he asks, "Will you let me help you?" Do youhave any need? He cares for you.

No way!" The disciples told Jesus. We have fished all night and caught nothing notone small fish.

Then, Jesus told the disciples to do something. He told them to put the net in the rightside of the boat. The disciples did as Jesus said, and to their amazement, the net wasfull of fish. Where did they all come from?

Sometimes, when we call out to Jesus to help us, He may ask us to do something. Are

we willing to b obedient if He does?

The disciples then towed the boat back to shore; they had a lot of fish to eat andprepare for selling at the market. Back at shore, they dragged all the fish (153 in all) outof the boat. The net was not even torn by so many. Jesus prepared them breakfast andthey had a feast.

Have you ever had fish for breakfast? Jesus may not give us what we want all the time, but he will meet our every need.

    Questions for Discussion

    1. In what ways will Jesus supply for our needs?2. What are some things that we should pray about in asking for Gods help?3. How does God answer our prayers?4. How would you feel if you had worked so hard at something like the disciples did,

and no one seemed interested in what you had done? Would you quit?

Allow all the children to find a golden coin in the sand box to take with them as areminder of the treasure that we find in knowing Jesus as our personal Savior. They are

to find this with their bare toes (no hands allowed) Watch the fun!

    Play the Trivia Game (below)

    1. Read the verse together all using their own bible. (These are on the bookcase in

your room). Model read for them and then read all together with the kids. Ask achild to read the verse alone.2. Distribute each child a copy of the verse to take home. Have them get with a

partner and say the verse.3. Say: God will supply for all our needs. We must be obedient to Him. It is His

desire to provide for us. He provision is more than enough for all we will everneed. If we trust Him in faith and follow His Word, He will bless us beyond ourimagination.

Tape to each material square a sheet of paper that will say atrandom these words on the back side that the kids cannot see: Treasures, Captain, orBerry Muffin. Allow the kids one at a time to select a square and turn it over. If it saysmemory verse, they must say the verse. If it says one of the other words, they put itback on the quilt. If they say the memory verse correctly, they get to fish through thetreasure chest and find a prize to take home. You can keep the same squares to useover weekly. You may want to add all characters in the theme eventually.
