For instance, although Cecil is shorterand skinnier than Newton, he stands up for Newtwhen Newt is threatened by Ricky Ratner and hisgang. Similarly, Cecil encourages and supports Newt inthe audacious plan to climb Appleton water tower topersuade Reggie Ratner not to jump. In a way, Cecilhelps Newt to overcome his fear of height.
