The tunnel is constantly illuminated and features basalt panels decorated with petroglyph designs of the Native Columbia Gorge tribes. Horses are allowed on the dike trail, and should be loaded at the west end of S Index Street. Lewis and Clark camped at Cottonwood Beach for six days in March and April 1806 — the longest period they stayed at any site in Clark County.
