MOA Signing for Rural Electrification Project in Sitio

Patagon, Barangay Anticala

As part of CEIT’s commit-ment to conduct relevant extension programs to its stakeholders, the college came up with a proposal that desires to provide electricity to remote com-munities through Rural Electrification. For its first implementation, the tar-get beneficiaries were the residents of Sitio Pata-gon,Dogyaman, Brgy. Anti-cala, Butuan City. Spearheaded by Mr. James V. Presbitero, Project Leader, MOA Signing for

the Rural Electrification project came about last June 10, 2014 at Barangay Center, Barangay Anticala as witnessed by the ba-rangay officials leaded by Datu Hawudon Buhay, Chieftain of Anticala Coun-cil of Elders and Leaders Assoc. Inc. and Datu Tu-mutuwas, sector Datu of Patagon. Together with Mr. Presbitero were Engr. Jobelle M. Jayoma (AE), Engr. Anamarie J. Pondog (AE), Engr. Jefrey M. Ba-gasbas (AE), Engr. Jerry A.

Halibas (EcE), Ms. Jester-lyn Q. Timosan (CS), Mr. Junrie A. Matias (CS), Mr. Edgar A. Cuenca (IS), and Ms. Betchie Clair M. Lua-rez (IS). Present also were Mr. Singrid D. Sy and Avelina Tindugan, DTI representatives. This activity marks the start of a new community partnership with its commitment to-wards sustainable devel-opment.

Outcomes-Based Education Program Assessment and Evaluation Training Workshop

P A G E 5 V O L U M E 2 , I S S U E 1

A training-workshop on Outcome-Based Education Program Assessment and Evaluation Training Work-shop was conducted last No-vember 21-22, 2013 at the University of Mindanao, Mat-ina Campus, Matina Davao City.

Dr. Alberto Laurito gave his aperture message and presented the Rationale of the event. Series of discus-sions was deliberated by dis-tinct speakers. CMO 37, S.2012 was delivered by Dr. Laurito. He then discussed the Policies, Standards and Guide-lines in the Establishment of

an Outcomes-based Education (OBE) System in Higher Educa-tion Institutions Offering Engi-neering Programs. Additionally, he also discussed the back-ground and rationale, objectives and purpose, general policies and standards, and implement-ing guidelines of an OBE System for Academic Year 2013-2014.

OBE Assessment and Evaluation was delivered by Dr. Bonifacio Doma from Mapua In-stitute, one of the CHED-TPET OBE Mentors. He discussed and illustrated the elements of OBE. Also elaborated the specific com-ponents of OBE with examples cited. PATE Module 103: Ele-

ments of OBTL was also discussed by Dr. Cyn-thia C. Llanes. Basic concepts of OBTL was her topic. A workshop on OBE Syllabi mak-ing was facilitated and evaluated by Dr. Florante Magnaye, COE Dean of TIP, for CSU. The activity was substantial for we acquired many ideas and infor-mation. It was well appreciated since CSU will be soon es-tablishing a full OBE System implementa-tion.

and Robotics. It aims to pro-vide Caraganons the latest training equipment for auto-mation and control which will prepare them for the job re-quirements after graduation. Another valuable project of CEIT is the Solar Electrifica-tion and Energy Efficiency Lighting Project amounting to P3.2 Million. For its imple-mentation, P2.3 Million was allocated for the purchase of

The re-maining P5.45 million is un-der bidding process for the next phase of construction of the said building.Another fund amounting to P 3.5 million was depleted for the provision of equipment used for the es-tablishment of Caraga Region-al Center for Mechatronics

the 4.8 KW solar source. This will be utilized to power the lighting system of Computer Laboratories 1 and 2 and power up 50 computers for CL 2. The CEIT saved an amount of P 881,000.00 from this pro-ject and was slated to be used for the CSU’s street lighting and additional electrical mate-rials for the proposed show-room of the newly established CSU Solar Power System.

CSU-CEIT in HGST 2nd Annual Convention….

Cont. from page 1... The national con-

vention was initiated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to sup-port the Integrated Uni-versity Program (IUP) with the Hitachi Computer Products Asia Corporation (HICAP), now known as Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Philippines Corporation (HGST), a Western Digital company. The said national conven-tion was hosted by Bicol University, which is one among the recipients of Robotics & Metrology equipment donated by HGST last year 2013.

The IUP has many initiatives which benefit-ted many universities around the country. In fact, Caraga State Univer-sity is one of the benefi-ciaries of the program being a recipient of Robot-ics & Metrology equip-ment donated by HGST in the year 2010. The IUP program also includes faculty immersion as well as on-the-job training for the students at HGST, in which four (4) faculty and nine (11) students of the College of Engineering and Information Technol-ogy (CEIT) and Physics Division of this institution have already participated.

The intention of

the National Convention for all the HGST beneficiaries and its stake-holders was to showcase the achievements and accomplishments through paper presentation on the following key areas:

1. University Focus Programs: A. Establishment of HGST Re-

gional Laboratories B. Plant Visits

2. Faculty Focus Programs: A. Faculty Immersion B. Faculty Research Grant 3. Student Focus Programs: A. On-the-job Training B. Thesis Direction Sponsorship C. Scholarship Many beneficiary SUC’s and other guest schools have joined and pre-sented their research papers during the national convention, to name a few: Cebu Technological University (CTU), Caraga State University (CSU), Bicol University 9BU), Uni-versity of San Carlos (USC), Pala-wan State University (PSU), Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Sci-ence and Technology (EARIST), and Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), wherein Bicol University is the host of the said event. Among the presenters there were two (2) schools awarded as the best re-search papers namely: Cebu Tech-nological University and Caraga State University which was present-ed by Engr. Halibas and Engr. De-metillo with the research ttle ‘Effects of Partnership between HGST and CSU”.
