CARDIO VASCULAR

SYSTEM

Page 2: Cardio vascular system report

The most important muscle of the body is the cardiac muscle in which the heart is responsible for the blood to flow all around the body. This topic will

allow us to understand and acknowledge the technicalities of our cardiovascular system. How it works, parts, etc. We will also be reminded of our

responsibilities as the one who manages the Body.

What are the functions of the heart’s arteries?6. What is the specialized conduction system of the heart?7. What is intrinsic control of blood flow?

Guide Questions:

What is cardiovascular system?Cardiovascular system is responsible to the (1) delivery of

appropriate amount of oxygen and other nutrients in the different parts of our body specifically in our muscles. It allows the muscles to perform well in accordance to the

intensity of the activity. Here are the other jobs of the cardio vascular system;

• Removal of carbon dioxide and other metabolic waste products• Transport of hormones and other molecules• Support of thermoregulation and control of body fluid balance• Maintenance of acid–base balance• Regulation of immune function

All physiological functions and virtually every cellin the body depend in some way on the cardiovascularsystem. Any system of circulation requires three components:

• A pump (the heart)• A system of channels or tubes (the blood vessels)• A fluid medium (the blood)

THE HEART

Page 6: Cardio vascular system report

MYOCARDIAL MUSCLEExcept of pumping blood all around the body, the myocardial has its part that functions according to the amount of stress placed on it.

The left ventricle is the mostpowerful pump of the four heart chambers.

The left ventricle must contract with enoughforce to overcome the effect of gravity

The left ventricle generates considerableforce to pump blood to the systemic circulation,it has the thickest muscular wall compared with theother heart chambers.

The demand on the leftventricle to deliver blood to the exercising muscles ishigher. In response to

both intense aerobic and resistancetraining, the left ventricle will hypertrophy.

In response to both intense aerobic and resistancetraining, the left ventricle will hypertrophy.

The left ventricle adaptsby increasing its size and pumping capacity, similarto the way skeletal muscle adapts to physical training
