• Applied Mathematics can serve as an alternate EOI for Algebra I, Geometry, and/or Algebra II. A score of 5 must be made on the assessment
• Reading for Information (CRC assessment) and Business Writing (not a CRC assessment) can serve as an alternate EOI for English II and/or English III. A score of 4 must be made on both assessments.
Reminder: WorkKeys Cut off Scores
• Signed by the Governor on 5/31/13
• 10% above cut scores for ACT and SAT – exempt from taking EOIs in Alg. II, Eng. III, Geom., US History
• Equal to or above the cut scores on AP exams, WorkKeys exams, CLEP, IB, exempt from taking EOIs in Alg. II, Eng. III, Geom., US History

Changes to A-F Report Card• HB 1658 signed by the Governor 5/24/13• Made changes to former A-F legislation• Law goes into effect 90 days after Governor signs• Rules will be defined by the State Department of
Education and approved by the State Board of Education
• SDE will have rule changes prepared to implement immediately after law goes into effect
• Will affect the Report Cards that are released in September 2013
A-F Report Card last year…Last year, the A-F Report Card was
comprised of three main sections, each worth 1/3 of the overall grade:– Student Achievement - counts 1/3 or 33%– Student Growth – counts 1/3 or 34%
• Overall Student Growth – 17%• Bottom 25% Growth – 17%
– Whole School Performance – counts 1/3 or 33%
• Graduation Rate – 79%• Advanced Coursework Participation – 3%– Participation = enrolled in career major that
leads to a Type 1 or 2 exam and earn a “D” or higher
• AP and IB Performance – 3%• Advanced Coursework Performance – 3%– Performance = earn a “C” or higher in a career
major that leads to a Type 1 or 2 exam

• Recently tech centers turned in to IMD the grades for students in career majors meeting A-F requirements and for those students in Cooperative Alliance courses.
• We have now turned that list into the SDE to be counted on the report cards for this year.
• CTE high school advanced coursework was not counted this year as no clearly defined process was in place. We hope to have that process in place for next year.
A-F Report Card Update
Rule Changes to A-F• 50% - whole school performance, as measured by allocating 1
point for each student who scores proficient or advanced on the CRT, EOI and alternative tests divided by the number of students taking the tests
• 25% - whole school growth, as measured by allocating 1 point for each student who improves proficiency levels or improves substantially within a proficiency level on CRT and EOI tests divided by the number of students taking the tests
• 25% - growth in the bottom quartile of students, as measured by allocating 1 point for each student in the bottom quartile who improves proficiency levels or improves substantially within a proficiency level on CRT and EOI tests divided by the number of students taking the tests
+ Bonus Points (High School)• 5 points for meeting the criteria for an “A” for the high
school graduation rate of the school as defined by rules adopted by the board, (90-100%=A)
• 1 point for advanced coursework - for meeting the criteria for an “A” for performance (90-100%) OR participation (70-100%) of students in AP courses, IB courses, concurrent enrollment courses, AICE courses, or achievement of students on national industry certification, as defined by rules adopted by the board,– AP = score 3 or higher– IB = score 4 or higher– AICE = “C” or higher– Concurrent = “C” or higher– Industry Certification Courses = “C” or higher
• Earn a “C” or higher in a Cooperative Alliance course whether or not student pays for college credit

+Bonus Points (High School)• 1 point for college entrance exams - for meeting
the criteria for an “A” for participation (75-100%) or performance (75-100%) in SAT or ACT tests, as defined by rules adopted by the board,– ACT = 20+– SAT = 1410+– Most recent score
• 1 point for meeting the criteria for an “A” for the high school graduation rate of students who scored at the limited knowledge or unsatisfactory on the 8th grade CRT tests in reading and math (85-100%=A) as defined by rules adopted by the board,
+Bonus Points (High School)
• 1 point for the performance of students on the EOI, as defined by rules adopted by the board, (as data becomes available) – SDE looking at percent of graduates who passed a high number of EOIs – calculation to be determined by SDE
• 1 point for the growth or decline in the components listed above from year to year, as defined by rules adopted by the board (over multiple years, as data becomes available)
• A total of 10 bonus points might be earned by a school
Bonus points count on overall grade
• Everything we do to make our students more prepared - technically, academically and with increasing self-confidence - improves how they perform on all assessments.
