International MBA 2017 Graduates / 3

At IE Business School, we are proud of our achievements. Our dedicated team of industry experts have strengthened the core career content in the program curricula, continued to provide sector-specific career advice for every student and attracted more interest from international recruiters than ever before.

As a result, 87% of our 2017 graduates secured a job within three months of graduation, most notably in the Technology industry. In keeping with trends, approximately 34% of the class joined companies in Financial Services and Consulting.

Students keep securing work as Marketing/Sales professionals with 25% landing jobs in this area, while a growing number accepted a position in General Management (20%) and Finance/Accounting (18%).

Regarding regions, 42% of our graduates decided to work in Europe and 31% settled in Latin America.

These new graduates joined the ranks of 60,000 IE alumni based in 160 countries in both the public and private sectors. This continued success demonstrates our commitment to limiting time away from the workplace while providing a complete International MBA experience far beyond just academic achievement. It’s our focus on real-world projects and leadership initiatives that attracts major companies such as Amazon, Deloitte and McKinsey & Company: industry giants that value candidates with “intrapreneurial” skills and the power to change a company from the inside. We cannot wait to build on this success as we dig deeper to bring out our students’ fullest potential and create value for all types of industries and communities across the globe.

MARKET INSIGHTS

“The main takeaway from my experience at IE is how to deal with different ways of thinking and to take the best from a variety of opinions. Having classmates

from an extremely wide range of countries and with all type of work and life experiences contributed to develop this skill.

While applying to different jobs from all parts of the world, this skill was extremely useful to interact with recruiters and excel in interviews.”

II. CAREER CHOICES

The diverse and industrial nature of our student body is echoed by the plethora of companies, across a variety of industries where they find job placements. Multinationals, SMEs, private or public sector businesses – our Talent & Careers service is always on its toes as we strive to match a large range of recruiters with the perfect candidate from our pool of qualified professionals.

The technological industry continues as one of the most popular industries with 20% of our students getting placements in this sector. Financial Services and Consulting – the solid backbones of business – still draw a sizable crowd claiming 20% and 14% respectively, with interest in Consumer Goods just behind at 11%.

Marketing and Sales roles are still top of the table with 25% of our student body finding their footing there. Finance roles have dropped slightly to 18% while placements in Consulting have increased to 15%, but the real climber is growth in General Management which has risen to a healthy 20% this year.

As a Business School with a far-reaching, cross-industry, international business vision, we are exceptionally pleased with the number of our students who have secured opportunities all around the world. With 42% in Europe, 31% in Latin America and the Caribbean, 9% each in North America and Asia Pacific, alongside a representation of 9% in Middle East and Africa, our global success is breathtaking. This success is a result of having strong and fruitful relationships with international recruiters, coupled with an ever-growing diverse class profile and a network of 30 IE representative offices on all continents.

III. SALARIES

The diverse nature of our International MBA Class of 2017, spread out over a wide variety of industries, functional areas and countries, accounts for the range of salaries on display. All salaries are reported in euros and US dollars. In the final column we have adjusted US dollars to PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) ratio, due to the high number of students who have salaries in non- US dollar currencies. The World Banks s implied PPP rate of exchange was used to equalize the Purchasing Power Parity across economies.

II. RECRUITING PARTNERS

More than 260 companies and organizations offered on-campus presentations and attended the various IE Talent Forums organized at IE Business School’s campus, as well as in Mexico and Colombia. HR representatives from local and international companies had the opportunity to meet our students, leading to interviews and selection processes both on- and off-campus. Other companies chose to conduct on-campus presentations or post their job opportunities on our IE Career Portal. Besides making these opportunities available to our students, we urge them to take responsibility in managing their careers and make the most of all the activities we organize to bring them in contact with recruiters at all early stages of the MBA.
