TRANSCRIPT
Career & Technical Education (CTE) is proud to highlight some of our business partnerships that are key in the success of
our programs at Judson Independent School District. They are involved in our Program Advisory Councils, they are class-
room guest speakers, and they provide various resources for our programs across the district. Business partners and their
expert advice, their resources, and their time are essential to the progress of our programs at Judson ISD. We thank you!
Chef Austin Hawthorne from Aguste Escoffier Culinary
School in Austin, Texas visits the Wagner High School
Culinary Program to encourage students to continue
doing their best creative work in the kitchen. He shared
his knowledge by demonstrating, and teaching the
students how to prepare Vietnamese spring rolls and
discussed the art of placing the finished food product on
the plate. Career information was shared about the
exciting hospitality industry.

It's not every day an Agriculture science program has students that are recognized
nationally, but Judson High School's Ag program is not just a typical program. The school's
FFA chapter sent three students to the organization's national conference in Indianapolis,
Indiana and all three placed in their respective Food Products and Processing Systems
categories. Mallori Johnson and Sutton Horner took Gold Medals home for their project
"The Effectiveness of Natural versus Artificial Preservatives in Snacks." Their project won
1st in state and they took 4th nationally. Meanwhile, Samantha
Obuch took her project “Bad To The Buns: Extending the Life of
Baked Bread" which took the top spot at state, took 12th place na-
tionally. In addition, the Judson FFA received a 3 Star Rating for
National Chapter Award...the highest you can get, with stage
recognition at the conference. What a great program!
Congratulations to these students and of course the instructors
and program directors, including Mr. Jay Trees, for guiding a
great program.
Kirby Middle School 8th graders worked on a project that took some rejected parts of some old athletic field
bleachers and repurposed them. Mr. Howard Dean's
CTE Principles of Construction class took the recycled
bleacher wood from some dismantled stands from a few
years ago and turned them into bookshelves for Kirby
staff. The students proudly left their signatures and
dated their work on the back of each piece they
created. This was a fantastic way to keep a piece of
Kirby history and share it with staff.
