WYOMING CTE FACT SHEET Wyoming State Department of Education — Career Technical Education 2015-2016

2014-2015 Carl Perkins IV State Report —Secondary Demographic information was collected from 64 secondary schools with students participating in CTE.

• There were 3,491 total students reported as CTE concentrators and 15,852 CTE participants in Wyoming in 2014-2015.

• 58.3% of all concentrators were enrolled in these 4 program areas; Architecture and Construction, Agriculture, Hospitali-

ty and Tourism, and Manufacturing. • 93.1% of eligible CTE concentrators were reported as graduating, compared to 78.6% of all students statewide in 2013-

14. • ACT Math Data: 38.1% of CTE concentrators were proficient. CTE concentrator data is reflective of statewide proficien-

cy, and shows no change from last year.

• ACT Reading Data: 29.5% of CTE concentrators were proficient. This represents a slight decrease from the prior year of

30.0% proficiency. CTE concentrator proficiency in reading was slightly lower than the statewide proficiency results

(31.7%).

CTSO Participation (DECA, FBLA, FCCLA, FFA, SkillsUSA) • Approximately 30.7% of unduplicated CTE concentrators participated in a CTSO.

• The highest percentage of concentrators were members of FFA (56.7%), which is consistent with past years.

• There was a small increase in SkiIIsUSA participation from 17.1% (2013-14) to 18.5% (2014-15)

• CTE concentrators who participated in CTSOs had higher overall technical skill proficiency (80.9%) than those who did

not participate in CTSOs (71.9%).

2014-2015 Carl Perkins IV State Report—Post-Secondary Results were calculated using demographic information collected from 7 post-secondary

schools with students participating in CTE during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Defined as a student who (1) completes at least 12 technical or aca-

demic credits within a single program area or across multiple CTE pro-

gram areas, or (2) completes a threshold level in a short-term CTE pro-

gram of less than 12 credit units that terminates in an industry-

recognized credential, certificate or degree.

Defined as a student who has earned one or more credits in any CTE

program area.

Percent of CTE concentrators in the identified entry cohort who receive

an industry-recognized credential, certificate, or degree at any point

between when they were classified into the cohort and the current re-

porting period.
