PA CareerLink Open for Service
PA CareerLink offices in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties are currently open for business
by appointments only. Due to Covid 19 restrictions we must limit the number of individuals
inside our offices. It is very easy to schedule an appointment to Job Search and work on your
resume, use the computers in the CRC or meet with a staff member for career guidance. You
can call the offices Monday through Friday from 8 AM – 4 PM to schedule your appointment.
For those customers that arrive at the CareerLink without a pre-schedule appointment a staff
member is available at our Triage center to assist you with basic questions and direction.
You may even be able to schedule an appointment on the spot if we are not at our maximum
number in the facility at that time.
Right now, the PACL in Youngwood is holding Adult Education classes on site as is AlleKiski
CareerLink. All other classes are currently being held virtually. As of September the
CareerLinks in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties are also holding virtual workshops.
Registration for these Zoom Workshops can be accessed on the PA CareerLink Calendar of
Events. Workshop topics include: Online Applications, PA CareerLink Online Job Searching,
Resume, and Financial Literacy
Employers, we have not forgotten about you either. The Business Service Team Members
are here to assist you in posting jobs, searching for candidates to match your openings and
even work with you to develop an “On the Job” training contract if you find a good candidate
that may be lacking some of the skills needed to perform all of the job duties required in the
position. You may have current employees that need their skills upgraded so you want to
learn more about our” Incumbent Worker Training Program”. We also have a “Transitional
Employment Program” to assist individuals with barriers. If you are interested in helping an
individual gain some experience to assist them in reaching their career goals, please ask for
details. The best thing for you to do is to call the CareerLink and ask to speak to an Account
Representative. They will be able to assist you individually and explain all programs and
eligibility requirements.
Let us help you move forward to secure a successful end to 2020 and a productive 2021.
"Success isn't always about greatness. It's about consistency. Consistent hard
work leads to success. Greatness will come”. -Dwayne Johnson

Coping with Stress – Take Care of YOU The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic is stressful for many people. Fear and
anxiety about a new disease and what could happen can be overwhelming and
cause strong emotions in adults and children. Unemployment and not knowing how
you will make ends meet is stressful. Public health actions, such as social distancing,
can make people feel isolated and lonely and can increase stress and anxiety.
Coping with stress in a healthy way will make you, the people you care about,
and your community stronger.
Here are a few healthy ways to cope with stress (taken from the CDC website).
Know what to do if you are sick and are concerned about COVID-
19.
Know where and how to get treatment and other support services
and resources, including counseling or therapy (in person or through
telehealth services).
Take care of your emotional health. Taking care of your emotional
health will help you think clearly and react to the urgent needs to
protect yourself and your family.
Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories,
including those on social media. Hearing about the pandemic
repeatedly can be upsetting.
Take care of your body.
o Take deep breaths, stretch.
o Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
o Exercise regularly.
o Get plenty of sleep.
o Avoid excessive alcohol and drug use.
Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns
and how you are feeling.
Connect with your community- or faith-based organizations. While
social distancing measures are in place, consider connecting online,
through social media, or by phone or mail.
Read more at the CDC website about coping with stress.
