Our mission at CareerSafe® is to deliver Safety Education for America’s Future. Through our interactive, online training courses, we teach students how to reduce the risks associated with workplace and cyber safety hazards while providing useful information that will prepare these young men and women for a safe and prosperous future. By providing these individuals, particularly high school students, with fundamental safety knowledge, our program brings the significance of safety to the forefront. CareerSafe® is currently available in all fifty U.S. states and is in use by over 4,000 high schools nationwide.

While providing workplace safety training to students, we discovered students were lacking in other vital skills needed to succeed in the job market, such as effective listening, self-awareness, and professional communication skills. No matter what career a student finds interest in, these communicative skills are what distinguish and true leader from a follow. With the CareerSafe Communication Skills course, you can provide your students with critical soft-skills not normally found in a class curriculum.

Given the goal of communication is mutual understanding, one significant way to improve your communication skills is to deepen your knowledge of the people involved and the context within which the communication takes place. This quest for deeper knowledge is the subject of this lesson. Having learned more about the communication process and about a variety of factors that impact communication, this lesson will cover one of the most important keys to successful communication: effective listening. The objective of this lesson is to identify effective listening techniques and successfully employ effective listening skills to improve communication.
