Why me? Why now? What now?

These questions come to the forefront of our lives when we are caring for a loved one but the real questions we askourselves may sound more like Why am I the only one taking care of Mom? Just when Im ready to retire, why do Ihave to end up caring for Dad? Ive used up a lot of savings helping to care for my grands. What am I going to donow?

Wouldnt you like to have someone to talk to about these issues?

Mount Pleasant Regional Library can help. We have partnered withCarolina Hospice Care to offer a Caregiver Support Group, held on thefourth Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. Meetings are informal andyou can have a cup of coffee and a snack while learning about newresources and tips for coping. Its a time to share your experience whilereceiving comfort and compassion from those who also understand theemotional, physical and financial stress of a caregiver.

Its a place to vent your frustrations without fear of criticism.

  • The journey of a caregiver has many highs and lows; it is imperativethat you take care not only of your loved one, but also of yourself. Eachjourney is unique and essential, and we are here to hear your concerns, answer your questions, and help you to navigate the resources at yourdisposal.

Join us at our upcoming 2015 meetings: July 27, Aug. 24, Sept. 28, Oct.26, Nov. 23 and Dec. 28. In the meantime, the library has some bookswhich may help.
