TABLESHAPE AND SIZEThe dining table is one of the most important pieces of furniture in the home. It is here we meet, often to discuss life’s big and small events.

What should you look for when choosing a dining table? We suggest you begin by considering how many table settings you need. How many people eat there every day? How many guests do you want to be able to greet for a festive dinner?

Then there is the question of shape. Small rooms are usually best served with a round or square table. If you have the space, then you will probably want to consider a rectangular, oval or elliptical table.

MATERIALS AND MAINTENANCEWhen choosing a dining table that is to last for generations, you will also want to take some time to consider materials and maintenance. Do you enjoy the natural warmth and elegance of solid wood? Or do you prefer a more minimalistic style with stainless steel legs? Perhaps you want some of both?

Finally, there is the tabletop. Wood treated with oil provides a stain-resistant surface that will need to be re-oiled periodically. Soap-treated wood is gorgeous and can almost always be “rescued” from stains and scratches, but must be maintained regularly. Laminate and linoleum are nearly maintenance free. The choice is yours.

An ideal solution for small rooms: a table with hinged end fl aps that are easy to swing up when

guests arrive. These tables are popular choices for kitchens and smaller apartments. Choose either

rectangular or oval end fl aps; table edges are available either square or rounded.

The ultimate wooden table, equally beautiful as dining table, desk or conference table. The table-

top’s hardwood pieces run the entire length of the table, giving a luxurious and harmonious

surface. While often chosen along with CH24, the Wishbone Chair, the CH327 table was origi-

nally designed to go with the dining chairs CH36 and CH37, made from wood and paper cord.

Naturally.

Wegner’s visionary elliptical tables are available in three sizes, either in solid wood or with stainless

steel legs. CH337/338/339 are made from solid wood. These exceptionally graceful tables provide

a lifetime of everyday aesthetic pleasure and easily accommodate extra guests.

Tabletops are made from pieces of hardwood that run the tables’ full lengths – not widths. This

method requires lengthy pieces of outstanding quality and yields a more harmonious surface;

it also puts special demands on the frame in order to provide absolute stability. The results are

worth the effort, however: exquisite fi nishes and masterful construction that lasts for generations.

Equally suited as dining or conference tables.

A sTORyIT’S OUR HERITAGECraftsmanship means many things to many people. To us, it means everything.

Back in 1908, Carl Hansen founded his company on a strong belief: outstanding craftsmanship and rational serial production could go hand-in-hand to provide customers with high-quality furniture at a reasonable price.

Today, we continue to build on this simple but strong idea. We combine age-old woodworking techniques with the very latest technology to produce furniture of lasting value.

IT’S YOUR TABLEYour table doesn’t exist until you ask us to make it.

We make our furniture to order. Your order. You begin by selecting the table model that you prefer, and after that you decide on the materials and finish that best suit your decor and needs. Only then do we produce your table.

The results are a table that is uniquely yours. Outstanding design, produced in Denmark by Carl Hansen & Son – and made for you, to last for generations of daily use.

Hans J. Wegner was intrigued by experiments with wood and stainless steel. This elegant dining

table is one of the fortuitous results. CH322 is our longest table, able to handle up to four insert

leaves in order to seat up to eight extra guests. Also an excellent choice as a conference table.

With this design, Wegner achieved a look that is as simple as it is stylish. Stainless steel contrasts

beautifully with the rich tones of walnut and oak, but also goes well with the lighter shades

of ash and beech. Or perhaps you prefer linoleum or laminate? Available with or without the

option to add insert leaves.

sUsTAINABILITyNATURE’S OWN MATERIALSPeople’s love of wood and other natural materials has withstood the tides of changing fads and fashions. Just as good design seems to be timeless, so does our preference for Nature’s own products.

At Carl Hansen & Son, we take our responsibility to protect our natural resources seriously. Wood for our furniture comes from sustainably managed sources. Oak, beech and ash come from European forests that live up to Denmark’s National Forestry Program or similar standards. Walnut and cherry are from North American forests, most of which are FSC certifi ed. The soap and oils with which we treat our wood are natural, biodegradable products.

DESIGN THAT LASTS Good design never goes out of fashion. On the contrary: it often becomes more beautiful with age. That is why good design and outstanding craftsmanship demonstrate their value for generations.

Our furniture is commonly referred to as “high-end” because of its design heritage – not because of its price level. Hans J. Wegner came from a tradition of craftsmen who designed goodfurniture for the use of the many rather than the few. True to the spirit of Hans J. Wegner, we endeavor to keep a strong balance between the quality of our design, materials and workmanship and the cost of the fi nished product.

In the right room, Wegner’s oval tables provide an impressive setting for a meal. Like its cousin

the ellipse, the oval shape brings people together without putting corners between them. The

simplicity of stainless steel complements the shape beautifully. Oval tables are available in two

sizes and a variety of materials and fi nishes.

Round tables make optimal use of tight spaces, and Hans J. Wegner made optimal use of the

circular shape. The tabletop, available in many variants, rests elegantly atop the characteris-

The Extend table’s simple lines tell a bold story of strength and stability, but do so in an unmistak-

ably elegant and graceful way. Inside Extend is an ingenious mechanism that conceals extension

leaves for four more table settings, so there is always room for more. And when you no longer

need a three-metre long dining table, the extension leaves fold neatly inside again.
