MOST IMPORTANTLY: THE KAAPSE KLOPSE FESTIVAL The Kaapse Klopse is a colourful annual festival held in Cape Town in January. On the

event day the people take to the streets with painted faces , singing, dancing, playing instruments and having costume competitions. The event dates back to 1848 when ex-slaves painted their faces white and paraded the streets singing songs imitating important local people. Since then the tradition has been carried on.
