The Wimbledon Concert Hall Trust needs your support! The Wimbledon Concert Hall Trust was created by local musicians and music-lovers.

OUR VISION IS TO PROVIDE THE ‘BEST OF THE BEST’ OF MUSICAL EXPERIENCES• A 1250 seat state-of-the-art auditorium: the best size for the orchestral experience,

for recording, for flexibility and intimacy

• A great architect: Frank Gehry

• Acoustics by the world-renowned Yasuhisa Toyota

• The best of music of all genres: classical, jazz, folk, world, contemporary, opera, dance, digital and multi-media

• Ambitious educational and outreach programme

Creating a world-class cultural district in MertonThe hall would be a centre of excellence drawing people to, and complementing, other cultural offers along the Broadway and the local area as well as events such as the Wimbledon International Music Festival and the Wimbledon Bookfest. Our proposals involve a mid-size hall of 1,200 seats with world-class acoustics, flexible configuration and state-of-the-art IT and digital networking. Help us raise funds for a recording of Cecilia McDowall’s Da Vinci Requiem

WCS commissioned a major new work to mark our centenary and, in May 2019, we performed the world premiere of Cecilia McDowall’s Da Vinci Requiem in front of an audience of over 2,000 at the Royal Festival Hall. The choir is now looking forward to recording this wonderful new work in the late spring of 2020, a major commitment for which the choir has already started to raise funds.

If you are interested in helping us in this endeavour, please have a look at

wimbledon-choral.org.uk/recording

“McDowall’s strength has always rested in her ability to write for a chorus, and here the Wimbledon Choral

Society were magnificent. Nothing seemed out of place – the women angelic, the men monastic – the intonation and timing exquisite. Neil Ferris controlled the chorus,

soloists and Philharmonia impeccably.”

Marc Bridle, Opera Today, May 2019
