Their generosity is greatly appreciated. A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE Jesus’ question in today’s gospel is still valid today: “What are you looking for?” What do you want from your spouse, children or parents? Families are populated with imperfect people. To expect perfection is unreal. To expect and accept imperfection is wisdom. PARISHIONERS PLEASE NOTE: Poinsettias placed in boxes in the gathering space are available for anyone who wishes to take one home. Enjoy!

REMEMBER TO PRAY FOR OUR HOMEBOUND THOSE ON OUR PRAYER CHAIN & HOSPITALIZED

WELCOME We extend a warm welcome to recently registered new parishioners: Jack Gladysz of West Middlesex and Keith and Jane Gaines of Hermitage. Please welcome them and make them feel at home in our parish. NEXT WEEK We will take up a second collection for the Help Spread the Faith Campaign. Your contributions will help the Diocese to make the most effective use of all forms of communication. Thank you for your support.

God says, “Behold, I do a new thing.” The new thing that God seeks

often occurs in times of disruption, when the familiar world

has collapsed and the future is in doubt,

when days grow shorter, and we wonder if darkness

will swallow the light. the new thing that is

being born in our lives emerges out of the hidden womb

and the dark soil.

God’s new thing is the vision of “something more,”

a hovering possibility that challenges the world as it is.

It is the moral arc toward which history bends,

filling us with a divine restlessness with the way things are that inspires the quest

for what may be if the world embraces

God’s vision of Shalom.

CHURCH OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD FROM OUR PASTOR Philip found Nathanael (Bartholomew) and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses wrote, Jesus, son of Joseph from Nazareth…Come and see!” There was an article in the Boston Globe several months ago that went viral about an Emergency Room physician named Dr. Mark Quale in Burlington, North Carolina. Like many health care professionals during the pandemic, Doctor Quale has been putting in 70 and 80-hour weeks at his hospital – but just as stressful has been the fear that he might bring the virus home to his wife, young boys and mother-in-law. So, when he would come home, he would strip off his scrubs on the porch and walk a specific route to a bathroom cordoned off by a tarp where he would shower. But now, Dr. Quale isolates himself in a 31-foot travel trailer parked in their yard. The loan of the trailer is the work of RVs4MDs, a Facebook group organized to connect health care workers with RVs so they can isolate near their homes. From a critical care nurse in Boston to an ER doctor near Lynchburg, VA, RVs4MDs has matched health care workers with trailers, campers and RVs in their area. To date, the group has matched 1500 RVs with nurses, doctors, EMTs and paramedics around the country. RVs4MDs began in April when Emily Phillips posted a request on her Facebook page asking if anybody had an RV her family could borrow for her husband, an ER doctor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Holly Haggard replied offering her family’s RV to the Phillips. Emily and Holly realized they were on to something and the two women created RVs4MDs. Within a week of posting their idea on Facebook, hundreds of RV owners signed on. Before the arrival of Holly’s RV, Emily says, “I was a nervous wreck. Every time my husband walked in the door or put his hand on something, I thought we were going to get Covid, including our baby. But now that he’s in that RV, I’m back to my life, focused on my full time job and my kids, and it’s completely changed our situation.” Dr. Quale and his family in NC were matched with an RV from Kelsey and Tim Webb. The two families had never met, but Tim Webb drove his trailer for almost three hours to the Quale home. The Webbs gave the keys to the Quales, telling them they could use the trailer as long as they needed it. Renting their RV is usually a source of income for the Webbs, but Kelsey said donating it to the Quales was a “no-brainer.” “This family was in need and this was one way we could help, “Kelsey said. “You can’t put a price tag on this…it just makes my heart happy that we’re able to do this for them and give them peace of mind.” In this Sunday’s gospel the first disciples meet Jesus and ask where he is staying – “Come and see,” he says. Jesus dwells in every place where all are welcome and cared for, where everyone is assured a place. We can discover Christ present wherever compassion for others becomes a way of life and is readily offered. How could we not imagine that the place where Christ “stays” could include RVs and campers offered to provide security and safety to medical personnel and their families in these often deadly days? How might we imitate such activity, while still being safe and careful?

WEST MIDDLESEX, PA WELCOME FATHER “CAZ!” My experience with him is that he’s a “cheap date,” who would only ask for a box of fettuccine and a tomato to make dinner. I’m grateful that the staff (Lauren, Lisa and Gary) are acting as concierges this weekend and next while I’m on retreat in Massachusetts. But check the silver drawer after he leaves, just in case! A BIT OF A SHORTFALL We’re understandably short of our CSA goal for this past year, though we did accomplish our projects (air conditioning the kitchen, dish room and meeting room) and Jeemco’s generous gift of a new roof for the meeting room. Our shortfall to the Diocese is $6,580.00. As many of my fellow pastors advised the Diocese, a number of our parishioners are having trouble putting food on the table, gas in the car and dependable WIFI in the home. I completely understand that pledges may not be realized in full. Don’t ever think that would be a reason to jeopardize your status as a member of our parish family. Have a blest and safe week!
