Today we are going to make beautiful Carrickmacross Lace Butterflies. It is a combination of applique done in muslin with embroidery, stitched on a medium sized netting.

This beautiful delicate lace is just perfect for stitching on prom dresses, wedding dresses, veils, tea showers, blouses and home decor.

4. Cut only the muslin around the outside of the stitching. Do not cut the netting.

3. Cover the design with the muslin for the applique. Spray the netting first and press the muslin in place. Stitch the applique.

2. Stitch the design onto the stabilizer and the netting. This is the placement for the applique.

1. Hoop two layers of water soluble stabilizer and the netting.

Load the design onto the machine.

Use white Marathon thread on top and bobbin throughout.

There are four color stops.

6. Put the hoop back in the machine and complete the design.

5. Stitch the tack down. Now use the round tipped scissors and cut away the netting as shown. Do not cut the stabilizer.
