Guidance Counselor Myths!• My guidance counselor is too busy to care about talking to me about

school problems or my grades…• If the counselor wants to talk to me, then I must be in trouble!• The counselor is just going to tell everyone about my problems, so I’ll just

not tell anyone.• If I go talk to the counselor then I am crazy and there is something wrong

with me…• The counselor will just boss me around and yell at me for messing up….

Ok, Cool. So how do I see the guidance counselor?• If you want to talk or get more

info about the things we already discussed contact me or stop by to see when I can meet with you- during a time that is best for your schedule

• A teacher, parent or friend may notice you could benefit from meeting with a guidance counselor, don’t be mad! They are looking out for you! I have referral forms for teachers
