Does sweeping your front porch

make number one on your priority list

everyday? How about sweeping the sec-

tion of street in front of your house?

Well, this is a matter of great impor-

tance in our new neighborhood. At

first, it just wasn't a priority for me as I

worked to get our house in order. But

the need for daily sweeping soon be-

came obvious.

First of all, we are so thankful to

have 2 fruit trees shading our front

patio, but they are constantly dropping

leaves and fruit (1 nispero tree and 1

mango tree). Second of all, after talkingwith a nice neighbor about the endless

sweeping, I got a clear answer.

She kindly explained to me the im-

portance of sweeping everyday and how

the neighbors were already talking about

the new, untidy neighbors. Well, that

part didnt really bother me, but the ex-

pectation to do it ASAP, every morning

got to me. I started thinking, Its my

house, if I want to I will or Sweep thestreet, please and For heavens sake,

its not like theres nothing else to do

first thing in the morning.

So began my week of conflict with

sweeping. I had quite a few conversa-

tions with the Lord about it. I struggled

to admit the root of my sweeping issues.

Why did I not want to do it everyday?

Do I mind sweeping? No, I rather enjoy

it. Did my front patio need to be swept?

Yes, desperately! So what was the prob-

lem?

The problem was a selfish, prideful

heart that doesnt like to be told what to

do. This admission brought me into a

time of self-evaluation.

What else in my heart was being con-

trolled by selfishness and pride? What I

found wasnt pretty, but the Lord helped

me do some very necessary cleaning on

the inside.

Who would have thought that a little

sweeping would lead to a time of spiritual

housecleaning. What simple thing inyour life is pointing to something deeper

in your heart? Will you ignore it claiming

it is no big deal? Or will you respond to

the Holy Spirit and do your own self-

evaluation? As for me, I am going to just

keep on sweeping, inside and out!

Jackson is enjoying his Tai-Kwon-Do classes and really doing well

at it. Let me tell you, you dont want to meet him in a dark alley.

Makayla has joined a competitive gymnastics team and is loving

it. She is making lots of friends and inviting everyone to the Im-

pact Groups. Avianna started school last week and is slowly adjusting. She is also

taking swim lessons and really enjoying her teacher.

Avianna is now attending a

Colombian school.

Three weeks ago we started our first Impact Group (Grupo de

Impacto). Impact Groups are small groups that meet in homes tofoster fellowship. Since we are just starting these groups, they

will very evangelistic as we are starting with non-believers. For

the first one, we had a meal and invited many people to attend to

kick off the groups. 22 adults (all non-believers) and 9 children

showed up for the first group in our home! What a joy to share the gospel to a group like that!

The following week only one lady showed up (it rained all day and no one goes out in the rain

here). Last Friday, 9 adults and 2 children attended. Please be praying for the following:

New groups starting soon in neighborhood of Jard n and the town of Taganga.

That it wont rain on the night of the groups!

Salvation of those attending.
