The$ Centre$ for$ African$ Studies$ Basel$(CASB)$is$a$prominent$centre$for$teaching$and$ research$ in$ Switzerland$ and$ reflects$Basel’s$ longstanding$ engagement$ with$Africa.$We$ coordinate$ the$manifold$Afri6ca6related$ activities$ at$ the$ University$ of$Basel$and$act$as$an$interface$for$academ6ic$exchange$between$disciplines,$faculties$and$ institutions$ outside$ the$ university.$Among$ the$ associate$ members$ are$ the$Swiss$Tropical$and$Public$Health$Institute,$the$ Museum$ of$ Cultures$ Basel,$ mission$21$ (the$ former$ Basel$ Mission)$ and$ the$

Practical(information$

Degree$Certificate$ of$ Advanced$ Studies$ (CAS)$ is6sued$ by$ the$ Advanced$ Study$ Centre$ of$the$University$of$Basel$(15$ECTS)$$Structure$and$format$The$programme$is$divided$into$6$modules$and$a$CAS$project.$The$modules$comprise$150$ contact$ hours$ on$ 21$ course$ days$ in$total,$ including$ lectures,$ working$ groups$and$presentations.$In$addition,$the$partic6ipants$ carry$ out$ independent$ study$ and$implement$ a$ project$ according$ to$ their$individual$ interests$ and$ professional$ re6quirements.$ The$ total$ workload$ of$ the$study$programme$ is$ 450$hours.$ Find$ the$complete$ programme$ on$ our$ website:$www.zasb.unibas.ch/cas/programme$$Time$schedule$The$ duration$ of$ the$ course$ is$ one$ year$(part6time).$ Lessons$ take$ place$ in$ three6day$blocks$(always$Thursday$to$Saturday).$The$ exact$ calendars$ for$ the$ current$courses$are$published$on$our$website:$$www.zasb.unibas.ch/cas/calendar!$Language$Courses$are$taught$in$English.$Project$re6ports$ and$ summaries$may$ be$ written$ in$English,$German,$or$French.$$$Course$fees$CHF$6100$incl.$course$documentation,$cof6fee$ and$ snacks;$ travel$ expenses,$ accom6modation$and$meals$are$not$included.$See$our$website$for$early$booking$discount.$
