New features in Release 6.5.2.4This section covers the major features that have been implemented in Release 6.5. For
complete information, see the Casa Systems – CMTS Release 6.5 Features Guide.
For a brief summary of the features and enhancements that have been implemented in
this latest version, see “Resolved issues and changes in Version 6.5.2.4” in this releasenotice.
Traffic prioritization and metering at NSI interfacesCasa has implemented a rate and priority based method to mitigate Denial of Service
attacks. All traffic going to the CPU is identified and classified into a traffic flow, and
each flow is separately rate limited, and prioritized. Higher priority flows will be sent
to the CPU first. Any traffic not matching a flow, is considered Best Effort, and will
be given the lowest priority.
Note: If you are upgrading to Version 6.5 from Release 6.1.3 or earlier, and if
you would like to review of all product changes that have been implemented
since you last upgraded your CMTS software, contact Casa Technical Support
for specific versions of the Casa Systems – CMTS Release Notes.
Release 6.5 software is not supported on Casa C1G, C10200, C3200, and
C2200 systems.

Updating the application image
To update the application image, first download the image from the Casa FTP serverto the TFTP server. The supported C10G storage device is nvram (non-volatile RAM).
To perform an update from the TFTP server:
CASA-CMTS# copy tftp <host-ip> <image> <device>
Where:
• <host-ip> is the IP address of the host where the update image is stored.
• <image> is the name of the software image stored on the remote system.
• <device> is the software storage device. On the C10G, the storage device is
nvram.
Save the running configuration using the copy running-config startup-config
command. Next, set the boot device and then reboot the system. When the CMTScompletes the series of boot-up processes, execute the show version command to
verify the software update.
On the C10G/C100G, update the application image C40g.gz.rel6.5.2.4_build3bc9 file
from host 192.168.3.10 to NVRAM:

Resolved issues and changes in Version 6.5.2.4
Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
Release Notes1-10
42532 3bc9 When processing the BGP configuration from the startup-configuration file, an
issue was observed in which the previously-configured SMM6 loopback
interface was no longer used as a BGP source for all BGP neighbors.
Additionally, SMM6 loopback was no longer used as the router-id. A fix has
been applied to ensure that the existing BGP settings which are read from the
startup-configuration file are correctly inherited in order to maintain the existing
configuration.
43031 3bc9 A problem exists where Telnet sessions to the system may continue to be
handled and reported by the CMTS as active sessions after an SMM
switchover. The problem was observed with the show user current command
output. The message “Maximum number of users exceeded on the system”
was eventually presented when the maximum number of Telnet sessions was
reached as inactive sessions were not being correctly dropped. The problem
was observed in a test network and has been fixed.
43243 3bc9 When setting the remote query community string with the cable modem
remote query command, a problem was observed where remote query would
stop working if an upstream interface was specified with the show cable
modem remote-query upstream X/Y.C/Z immediate command. This problem
was caused by an incorrect community string.
43263 3bc9 A fix has been implemented to correct a problem where SNMP bulk walk
queries would stop if a cable modem was found to be offline. The software will
now omit the offline modem and continue to process the SNMP queries to the
online modems.
43327 3bc9 A problem which was preventing the multicast group configuration from being
processed at the UPS module after a module reboot or redundancy switchover
has been fixed.
43383 3bc9 An issue which was causing a CPU trap to be generated at the SMM going into
STANDBY after an SMM switchover has been fixed. The CPU and memory
monitor traps have been suppressed until the next monitoring cycle; only the
switchover trap notification will be enabled at the SMM going into STANDBY.
43541 3bc9 A software configuration change to support two host addresses on two L2 video
interfaces on the same subnet has been implemented. The change allows
overlapping addresses (on the same subnet) to be applied across interface
video configurations.
43709 3bc9 A software logic error resulting in an upstream process hang on the UPS16x4
module has been fixed. Only the UPS16x4 module type was affected. The
problem was caused by messaging loops which created an inter-process
deadlock.

Resolved issues and changes in Version 6.5.2.4
Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
Casa CMTS Release Notes, Version 6.5.2.4 1-11
43770 3bc9 A calculation error which resulted in incorrect output port numbers for the
exported video configuration has been fixed.
43831 3bc9 When the service flow Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ) feature was enabled in
the upstream direction, the upstream scheduler could fail when configuration
changes are made to a DOCSIS MAC domain or to an ip-bundle where an
active cable modem exists. The failure was caused by the software removingthe cable modem's grant from an incorrect scheduler queue. This issue has
been fixed.
43839 3bc9 Enhancement. Casa Spectrum Management (CSM) now supports customized
modulation hopping in one step, or in multiple steps to an SNR fitted hop. From
the Casa diag mode, the csm dbg {101 | 0} command enables either
multiple-hopping or one-step modulation up hopping. By default, modulation
down hopping takes place in one step, such as 64QAM->QPSK.
Example: To enable CSM modulation up hopping in multiple steps (QPSK->
16QAM ->32QAM -> 64QAM
CASA(diag)# csm dbg 101
Example: To enable CSM modulation up hopping in one step (QPSK->
16QAM)
CASA(diag)# csm dbg 0
43997 3bc9 New feature. The [no] cable spectrum back-hop-step command has been
implemented in the Casa config mode to enable or disable Casa SpectrumManagement (CSM) modulation back hopping in steps. The default setting is
no cable spectrum back-hop-step.
Example: To back hop from QPSK to 64QAM in steps
(QPSK->16QAM->32QAM->64QAM)
CASA(config#) cable spectrum back-hop-step
Example: To back hop from QPSK to 64QAM
CASA(config#) no cable spectrum back-hop-step
When the no cable spectrum back-hop-step is applied, hopping from QPSK
to 32QAM, 64QAM or 16QAM will take place depending the calculated SNR
and thresholds.

Release Notes1-12
44073 3bc9 The video qam export configuration slot command has been revised with
the base option (either 0 or 1) to specify the Cisco or the BigBand SRM RF
channel base port and channel. Specify 0 for Cisco SRM, or specify 1 for
BigBand SRM.
Example:
CASA# video qam export configuration slot 3 base ? <0-1>0 or 1 baseCASA# video qam export configuration slot 1 base 1
44389 3bc9 A software change has been implemented to disable route recursion ONLY (by
default) for static routes to the default route. BGP routes are NOT impacted.
This change resolves a situation where two static routes to directly-connected
next-hops on separate VLANs would recurse to the default route if one of the
directly connected interfaces goes down. With this change, the traffic would go
to the path that is still up, instead of going to the recursive default route for thepath that is down.
44397 3bc9 Under certain conditions where there was a temporary failure to add an L3 entry
to the routing table, a problem in the software recovery process logic caused
the L3 entry to be incorrectly dropped. The missing L3 table entry resulted in a
CPE experiencing IP unreachable in the network. To immediately address the
problem where the affected CPE device was unreachable due to the missing L3
entry, issuing a clear cable modem command from the CMTS was
recommended. A fix to the software recovery process has been applied.44491 3bc9 A programming error which was preventing re-ARP of static route next-hop
route table entries has been fixed. The problem caused the VRF ID to be
programmed to 255 and not to the expected value of 0.
44564 3bc9 A handling error in the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) timing logic was causing
responses to outstanding FFT spectrum measurement requests to a channel to
be blocked. The problem was caused by the FFT timer not being enabled if a
spectrum rule was not applied to a channel. The blocked FFT packets created
inconsistent results in the show spectrum command output. This problem hasbeen fixed.

44675 3bc9 SNMP queries to the docsIfCmtsChannelUtUtilization MIB would show
downstream utilization statistics for some channels and not others. A fix has
been implemented in the SNMP process to correct an indexing calculation
error. The fix ensures that SNMP queries to the docsIfCmtsChannelUtUtilization
MIB are consistent with the equivalent CLI show docsis downstream channel
command.
44721 3bc9 D3.0 modems having more than 16 downstream bonded channels could
experience voice service problems and possible unexpected QAM module
restarts at the CMTS when Packet Cable COP messages are processed with
TOS/DSCP Overwrite bit set. This problem has been fixed.

version
Original problem/fix description
35375 3af2 A problem was observed where the IPv6 prefix shows up twice for a single
modem. A fix has been introduced so that when a prefix delegation (PD)
binding is renewed or updated, the current VRF ID of the given CPE MAC
address and PD prefix pair is checked to allow reuse of the same VRF.
37927 3af2 Enhancement. Type and bit rate statistics per PID are now included in the
show video session command output for improved monitoring of videos
streams. Fields now include: ES-pid, ES--type, and ES-bitrate (kb/s).
39803 3af2 Enhancement. Support for CPU metering of video EDIS traffic flows has been
implemented. See the section in this notice, “Traffic prioritization and metering
at NSI interfaces” for information on this feature.
40224 3af2 GigE interface flaps between the active and standby SMMs were observed after
an SMM6 switchover to SMM7. A buffering error which occurred during therecovery caused messaging between SMMs and the line cards to become
unreliable. Continuous sending and receiving of ISIS LSP traffic and
undetectable module temperatures were observed with this problem.

e ease otes
41269 3af2 A fix has been implemented to protect the standby SMM from restarting the
IS-IS process when there is a large number of prefix delegation (PD) routes
installed and redistributed into IS-IS. Under conditions where an ACL update
has been applied to an IP bundle, an ACL rebuild would occur at the standby
SMM and trigger route redistribution. Synchronization improvements and
changes to the route redistribution timer have been implemented to prevent the
IS-IS process from restarting.
41609 3af2 A problem which was causing an incorrect trap message to the logged with the
diagnostic power module <slot> {on | off} command has been fixed.
41705,
42624
3af2 Optimization changes to the downstream service flow scheduler have been
implemented to reduce overhead and to address intermittent latency issues
which could occur between the CMTS and some modems.
41864 3af2 During CMTS reboot and recovery from a power failure, a situation was
reported where SMM6 did not come up and assume the active state, withSMM7 assuming the active role. A timing recovery problem between the two
SMMs prevented the start-up config from being fully applied at SMM6. This
problem has been fixed.
42115 3af2 An error in the software logic which was sometimes preventing modems from
completing authentication requests with the CMTS has been fixed. The problem
was observed when modems were discovered stuck in the bpi (init) or bpi (wait)
state and were unable to register with the CMTS. Improved handling of the
modem authentication request message at the CMTS has been implemented to
fix the problem.

Resolved issues and changes in Version 6.5.2.4
Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
,
42675 3af2 A problem in which D2.0 set-top boxes were not forwarding multicast traffic has
been fixed. The problem was caused by the CMTS not responding to D2.0 STB
SA-MAP BPKM-REQ messages for clear multicast streams. A fix has been
implemented to ensure proper handling of the SA-MAP messages at the
upstream module to enable forwarding of clear multicast streams.
The multicast group classifiers must be configured to enable forwarding of bothclear and encrypted multicast IPTV streams. If not matched, SA-MAP
BPKM-REQ and IGMP join/leave packets will be dropped at the upstream
module.
For additional information on the multicast functionality change introduced with
this fix, see the “Operational information” section in this release notice.
To achieve the prior behavior of allowing all multicast joins to reach the SMM,
the following minimal configuration is needed.
multicast group config 1
source-address 0.0.0.0/0
group-address 224.0.0.0/4
42736 3af2 The software has been revised to ensure that the CMTS uses the primary
ip-bundle interface for the DHCPv6 solicit message when the
dhcp-giaddr-primary setting is enabled in the DOCSIS-MAC interface.
42807 3af2 When there are MPEG packets such as CAT and SDT packets which are not
listed in PMT for multicast sessions, video packets can become corrupted
under certain conditions. This data corruption is fixed in the software.
Additionally, unwanted packets are now dropped instead of being forwarded to
RF output.
42808 3ab2 A vulnerability has been observed in the Telnet process at the CMTS where
malformed packets from an unauthorized user could cause the Telnet daemon
to reload and force an SMM switchover. This problem has been fixed.
42899 3af2 Enhancement. DVB Simulcrypt can now be turned off while active encrypted
video sessions are in progress. With Simulcrypt turned off, the ECM PIDs will
be maintained and the CCAP will continue sending the ECMs to allow set-top
boxes (STB) to continue playing the video streams.
42912 3af2 A problem which was preventing forwarding of DSG tunnel traffic after an SMM
switchover to SMM7 has been fixed. DSG multicast replications in the
configuration were not correctly recovered and rebuilt at SMM7 when the
module assumed the active state.

42985 3af2 A fix has been applied in the software to address reported QAM continuity
errors where video artifacts were observed in video replay streams with DVB
Simulcrypt video encryption turned on.
43372 3af2 Enhancement. The software has been revised to support scrambling of video
and audio PIDs. All other PIDs are sent to the QAM channel without scrambling
(if referenced in the PMT-table), or are dropped (if not referenced in the
PMT-table.

Original problem/fix description
42163 3a4b A fix has been implemented to properly clear ACL bindings at the standby SMM
after making GigE port changes on a trunk interface before reapplying a new
ACL. Previously, because the ACL bindings were not cleared at the standby
SMM, error messages were observed when attempting to apply a new ACL rule
to the trunk interface.
42309 3a4b A software fix has been implemented to block L2 forwarding of untagged
packets received on NSI ports. This fix eliminates any traffic congestion thatmay arise when the source MAC is also learned on another NSI port on the
system.

3a4b Enhancement. The [no] encapsulation dot1q command has been introduced
to provide a mechanism for enabling or disabling untagged packet processing
(ingress and egress) over VLAN interfaces. By default, tagged packet handling
is enabled with the encapsulation dot1q setting. Use the no encapsulation
dot1q command to enable untagged packet handling.
Example: Enable untagged ingress and egress packet handling on VLAN 10
CASA(config)# interface vlan 10 CASA(conf-if-vlan)# no encapsulation dot1q
Rules when enabling untagged ingress and egress packet processing:
When a GigE port interface is a member of VLAN interface which has the no
encapsulation dot1q setting to enable untagged packet processing,
1. The GigE port interface MUST NOT be a member of another VLAN
interface which also has the no encapsulation dot1q setting applied.
2. An IP address must NOT be assigned to the GigE port.
If an IP address is already assigned to a GigE port, then the GigE port
interface must NOT be member of another VLAN interface which also has
the no encapsulation dot1q setting applied.42668 3a4b A timer creation error in the software logic which was causing the CSM process
to get stuck when performing the SMM6 to SMM7 switchover operation has
been fixed.

Original problem/fix description
37832 3981 A software error which was causing an incorrect channel list to be reported after
performing a manual DBC has been fixed. The problem was observed in the
show load-balance dynamic command output only.
38748 3981 Improved packet handling optimization has been implemented in the softwareto address occasional ping request delays with longer-than-normal response
times. The delays were sometimes observed under certain conditions when
issuing ping requests from the SMM 8x10G to a cable modem or DHCP server.
38777 3981 An issue in which CPE devices present in different VRFs were not able to come
online with the CMTS has been fixed.
Configuration support to enforce CPEs to be on the same VRF as the cable
modem has been implemented using the [no] cable sec cm-vrf-enforcecommand in the interface ip-bundle and sub-bundle configurations. This
change addresses situations where cable modems which are in different
sub-bundles than their MTA devices and would not be able to come online with
the CMTS. IPv4 and IPv6 modems are supported with this change. The cable
sec cm-vrf-enforce command change does not take effect until cable modems
are reset.
See the Casa Systems – CMTS Release 6.5 Features Guide for more
information.
39064 3981 A software fix which incorrectly resulted in NSI statistics being updated every
10 seconds has been fixed. The one-second update interval has been
reinstated.
39388 3981 Non-segmented and non-fragmented packet handling has been modified to
maintain packet ordering. Previously, a packet ordering issue resulted in
observed upstream packet loss under conditions when multiple US service
flows of differing traffic priority were configured in the cable modem
configuration file.
39540 3981 A software logic issue in the case where the source IP address is the CPE/CM
in policy-based routing (PBR). The software has been revised to properly
process the packets where PBR takes place on US packets. This fix corrects an
issue where one-way voice processing was observed.
39622 3981 A software problem which was sometimes causing DBC to get into a stuck
condition after an upstream channel shutdown has been fixed. The problem
was caused by a handling issue associated with DBC pending status.

Resolved issues and changes in Version 6.5.2.4
Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
39630 3981 After performing an upstream channel shutdown, the affected channel was not
captured in the unusable channel list, creating inconsistent channel set
information in the running software. The problem prevented voice calls from the
modem from being moved via DBC from the shutdown channel to a channel in
the usable channel list. This issue was observed with voice calls only and has
been fixed.
40287 3981 Enhancement. The dhcpv6 udp source-port 547 command has been
implemented in the Casa CLI under the interface ip-bundle and sub-bundle
configuration. The command overrides the default UDP port 546. Use the no
form of the command to revert to port 546.
Example:
CASA(ip-bundle 12)# dhcpv6 udp source-port 547
40325 3981 A problem which was causing ifindex statistics for subnets to be missing in
SNMP queries to the ipAddressPrefixOrigin object in the IP-MIB has been fixed.
40385 3981 A timing issue when processing link state packets resulted in a high number of
retransmissions causing connectivity between the CMTS and adjacent BGP/
OSPF neighbors to drop. This problem has been fixed.
40401 3981 Enhancement. The access-criteria setting in the video simulcrypt ecmg
configuration has been increased from 64 to 1024 characters.
Example:
CASA(config)# video simulcrypt ecmg test CASA(config-ecmg test)#
CASA (config-ecmg test)# access-criteria <string> ?hex string, e.g. 01 is 0x01, the preceding 0 is required,maximum length is 1024
40567 3981 A problem which was causing the SNMP MIB docsIfDownChannelId object to
not show the correct downstream channel Id for secondary downstream
channels in SNMP queries has been fixed.
40744 3981 Observed packet loss in UGS-AD service flows has been fixed. The problem
was caused by a queue length check error in the software logic.

Resolved issues and changes in Version 6.5.2.4
Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
40745 3981 A fix has been implemented to address a condition where the redundant SMM
in slot 7 could not acquire and synchronize the software image from the active
SMM in slot 6. The problem was observed in a situation where the redundant
SMM had a earlier software image which prevented proper synchronization
between the two SMMs during a software upgrade. The fix enables
synchronization between the SMMs in the event that one SMM has an earlier
software image.
40789 3981 An error in the software logic which was causing multiple processes in the
system shell to exit simultaneously has been fixed.
40809 3981 Under certain conditions where there was a temporary failure to add an L3
entry to the routing table, a problem in the software recovery process logic
caused the L3 entry to be incorrectly dropped. The missing L3 table entry
resulted in a CPE experiencing IP unreachable in the network. To immediately
address the problem where the affected CPE device was unreachable due to
the missing L3 entry, issuing a clear cable modem command from the CMTSwas recommended. A fix to the software recovery process has been applied.
40957 3981 Previously registered offline modems are now reported in SNMP queries to the
casaCmtsCmCpeCmStatusIndex MIB object.
41165 3981 A software issue which was affecting the Casa Spectrum Management (CSM)
process from completing full initialization after an SMM switchover or system
reboot has been fixed.
41220 3981 The USRM export file is now sorted by port when the video channel ID offset isconfigured.
41266 3981 A system shell corruption resulting from a long TACACS authentication
password (greater than 32 characters) has been fixed. Only the first 32
user-specified characters of the authentication password are now applied in the
software.
41361 3981 Enhancement. The maximum number of concurrent HTTP session instances
utilizing the HTTP process at the CMTS is now limited to 10 for improved
memory management.
41552 3981 Enhancement. Support has been implemented for the three DHCP Unique
Identifiers (DUIDs) in DHCPv6 packets: Type 1 (localinkaddress+time), Type 2
(locallinkaddress+enterprisenumber), and Type 3 (locallinkaddress).
41564 3981 The SNMP docsBpi2CmtsDefaultSelfSignedManufCertTrust object in the
DOCS-IETF-BPI2-MIB was reporting a value of 0 instead of the expected
values of 1 (trusted) or 2 (untrusted) in SNMP queries. This issue has been
fixed.

Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
41708 3981 A corruption of the FFT queue for an upstream module was blocking spectrum
management for the module. Automatic detection and recovery of such an
event has been implemented.
41711 3981 A resource contention issue exists when two video servers send unicast video
to the same IP and UDP port, and when program number-based PID
remapping is configured. This is a negative test case. The resource contention
issue has been fixed.
41805 3981 A traffic congestion issue was observed after ingress packets having an
unknown destination MAC address were matched to an access control list
(ACL) permit rule on a GigE interface. A fix has been implemented so that
packets matching a permit rule of an ACL do not override the system rule that
blocks packets with an unknown destination MAC address.
41811 3981 Under certain conditions, a stable multicast session can experience brief packet
loss. The packet loss occurs when another downstream line card changes statefrom having at least one session with the same multicast group input to no
video session with the same multicast group, or from having no video session
with the same multicast group to at least one video session with the same
multicast group input. This issue has been fixed.

Original problem/fix description
18730 3834 Enhancement. The video session initial-timeout parameter has been
implemented in the global configuration to detect packet lost before a unicast or
multicast session timeout occurs. The initial-timeout parameter sets the time
(in milliseconds) to elapse before reporting that a video transport steam has not
been received at the CCAP. The setting should less than the configured videounicast-session-loss-timeout or the video multicast-session-loss-timeout
value.
Example:
CASA(config)#video session initial-timeout ?<300-10000> timeout value in terms of msdefault default timeout value is 1000 ms
CASA(config)#video session initial-timeout 50030011 3834 A choppy video problem for video-on-demand service after PAUSE and PLAY
transition has been fixed.
33201 3834 It was observed that some D3.0 modems will more than double the frequency
offset correction values returned during periodic ranging. As a result, the
frequency offset will continue to increase until the upstream channel drops
offline. To compensate for the modem behavior, the system will now only return
half of the frequency offset correction value during a given periodic ranging
opportunity.
33202 3834 Large timing offsets (around 24) were observed after the cable modem had
already ranged on the channel. To minimize issues caused by these large
timing offsets, the ranging code has been modified to limit the timing
adjustments to a maximum of four for a given periodic ranging opportunity.
34995 3834 The software has been updated for improved handling of Telnet sessions when
sessions with the CMTS are closed and then re-opened.
35128 3834 A change to the Program Clock Reference (PCR) timing logic has beenimplemented for improved handling and synchronization of paused video
sessions.
35263 3834 Enhancement. D6 CEASE notification messages are now sent to the ERM
server whenever a system reboot or QAM module reset occurs to allow the
ERM to release resources immediately. Previously, a reboot action with no D6
CEASE notification would cause the ERM to maintain existing resources until
the hold timer expired.

35788 3834 Enhancement. The software now presents the “username:” prompt when
TACACS users log into a terminal server to establish a console connection to
the CASA CMTS. Previously, a blank “username:” field was being presented
which resulted in a AAA authentication failure.
36154 3834 A triggering problem in the software which was blocking spectrum

36379 3834 Improved module temperature polling and failure detection has been
implemented in the software.
36418 3834 Enhancements. Performance optimization has been implemented to improve
response times for CMTS CLI monitoring commands executed over secure
shell (SSH) and remote shell (RSH) sessions. The commands for whichperformance has been optimized include:
• show cable modem
• show cable modem phy
• show cable modem mac
• show cable modem load-balance statistics
36579 3834 A fix to address an unexpected Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) processexit has been implemented in the software. Error logs are now generated when
the PIM process aborts.
36739 3834 A software error which was causing incorrect selection of the default TFTP

Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
36980 3834 A fix has been implemented to not drop the RIP packets from a CPE when the
sequence number is smaller than the sequence number expected by the CMTS
after the device has been reset.
37042 3834 Enhancement. The [no] dhcp unicast-forward command has been
implemented in the CLI to support direct unicast DHCP forwarding for VRF
CPEs as eRouters and DHCP relay agents for connected devices. The
command is disabled by default. Use the no form of the command to disablethe current dhcp unicast-forward setting.
Example:
CASA(config)# dhcp unicast-forward
37072 3834 Enhancement. The show video session command now reports session
creation parameters in the displayed output.
Example:CASA(config)# show video session all brief ...Session creation parameters:client IP:Port : 172.0.2.29:41923sessionId : 000af707115200000933sessionLen : 10xactionId : 5rpcPgmNumber : 536871041inProgNumber : 0outProgNumber : 27inPortNumber : 1outPortNumber : 0sessionRate : 3750000multicast : 0

Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
37106 3834 A logic error in the recalculation of recursive next-hop BGP routes has been
fixed. The problem was observed in VRF networks where the BGP next-hop
recalculation update was not being installed in the route forwarding tables after
the BGP recursive route node changes from one IGP route node to another.
37129 3834 Enhancement. The show video session all brief command output now
reports the bit rate statistics after a video session is started. Previously, bit rate
statistics could remain at 0 for as long as 30 seconds after a video sessionstarted.
37154 3834 An issue was reported where users could log on to the CMTS with AAA
TACACS+ credentials even when connectivity to the AAA server was down.
The problem was discovered when the same username/password was
configured on both the TACACS server and on the CMTS (local).
Improved messaging at the console has been implemented to notify users who
have logged on locally when TACACS is unavailable.
Example:
[Fri Jan 9 23:40:37 2015]-AL-AAA-1: smm6: TACACS server isnot reachable.[Fri Jan 9 23:40:37 2015]-AL-CLI-1: smm6: Local usertestuser15 logged in from 192.168.2.9
37171 3834 After physically replacing an SMM, the MIB "entPhysicalSerialNum" value was
not being updated in SNMP queries. The CLI show system commanddisplayed the correct serial number for the replaced SMM. The SNMP problem
has been fixed.
37173 3834 Enhancement. The number of configurable SNMP tree-family entries in the
configuration has been increased from 64 to 1024. System reboot time has
been optimized when there is a large number of entries.
37190 3834 Enhancement. The number of SNMP tree-family entries in the configuration
has been increased to 1000 with optimized system reboot time with a large
number of entries.
37196 3834 A packet received from a CPE en route to a host on the network side via the
standby SMM was dropped at the ingress xGige port if the packet matched a
rule in the ACL applied to a VLAN interface. This problem has been fixed.
37220 3834 A problem which was causing the first two head lines to be dropped from the
show cable modem screen output has been fixed. The issue was observed
with the page-off parameter setting enabled. Issuing the no page-off setting
and re-executing the show cable modem command corrected the display.

37235 3834 Changes to the program association table (PAT) are now processed without
de-allocating the video stream and the session resources so that the outgoing
PIDs remain uniform across PAT and program mapping table (PMT) changes
37238 3834 Enhancement. The video stream-proc reset {pmt | pcr} ip-address
<ip-address> udp-port <1:65535> command has been introduced in the Casa
diag mode to reset QAM video stream PCR processing and PMT rebuild.
37255 3834 A calculation error which was causing snmpbulkget queries to skip entries
associated with the docsSubmgt3CpeIpAddr MIB object has been fixed.
37293 3834 Enhancement. IPv6 packet handling has been implemented to support
snmpbulkwalk and snmpbulkget query operations with IPv6-provisioned
cable modems using configured DOCSIS subscriber management IP filtering
rules.
The rule docsis submgt ip-filter 10 330 accept src-ipv6 2000::/48 protocol
44 will permit IPv6 fragment packets (next-header field is “44”) received from
the 2000:: subnet. You may receive fragments as the response to a
snmpbulkwalk and snmpbulkget query.
37303 3834 A software change has been implemented for consistent reporting of upstream
and downstream statistics after a module switchover. Reported statistics
inconsistencies were observed between the show controller upstream and
the show controller qam command outputs. The fix makes the outputs
between the two commands consistent with each other.
37337 3834 A packet forwarding path problem was observed where packets processed by
an egress ACL at the active SMM en route to the standby SMM were being
dropped. The problem occurred when the egress packet acquired an inner
VLAN and created an indirect forwarding path before entering the standby
SMM.The ingress ACL at the standby SMM then dropped the packets due to
mismatch. A fix has been applied to qualify packets which are forwarded to an
ingress ACL.
37378 3834 IP-bundle and IP sub-bundle description fields are now independent of eachother and can now be configured separately. Previously, the configured primary
ip-bundle description would also appear for the IP sub-bundle.
37379 3834 An error in the software which was causing BGP to send incorrect SNMP trap
OIDs has been fixed. The problem prevented some BGP trap notifications from
being logged at the CMTS.

37407 3834 A software error which was causing calculated per-channel power statistics to
be reported inconsistently between the CLI show interface qam <slot/port>
power output and SNMP queries to the docsIfDownChannelPower MIB has
been fixed.
37420 3834 A software logic error which could cause a VRF ID mapping corruption has
been fixed. The problem was observed at the time of a VRF configuration
change (such as a deletion), followed by an SMM switchover triggering thewrong VRF-ID in the forwarding path.
37440 3834 Enhancement. The show video session all brief command has been revised
to display video session uptime in the displayed output.
37454 3834 A fix has been applied to address spectrum management modulation hop-back
behavior issues in the cm-mode when there are changes in SNR levels for a
defined number of cable modems.
37459 3834 Enhancement. The [no] aaa authorization command arg-list command hasbeen implemented to enable or disable the command argument list sent in
TACACS command authorization requests. When enabled, a command will be
tokenized and a list of individual tokens will be set to the request and sent to the
TACACS server. When disabled using the no form of the command, the whole
command excluding the first token in the string form will be set to the request
and sent to the TACACS server.
37472 3834 A problem which was causing the IS-IS default route to disappear sometimes
when learned through the LSP ATT (attached) bit with the "prc-interval-exp"parameter configured has been fixed. The problem could occur after removing
and reconfiguring the IP address associated with the adjacent router and in
other cases where the ISIS area LSPs were refreshed. To correct the problem,
checks have been introduced to the partial route calculation (PRC) scheduling
logic to prevent miscalculation of the LSP ATT bit when LSPs are refreshed.
37494 3834 Processing of conditional access table (CAT) packets has been revised to
prevent intermittent audio loss or audio/video quality degradation after a QAM
8x96 switchover over encrypted SDV streams to some set-top boxes.37504 3834 Enhancements. The show video session all brief command now displays
the UDP port for multicast sessions. The show video session <session-id>
command now includes the source IP address and source UDP port.

37564 3834 Enhancement. The show cable modem <mac-address> [bonding |
non-bonding] command has been implemented in the software to display
cable modem bonded and non-bonded channel information per specified MAC
address.
Example:
CASA#show cable modem e448.*.* bonding
MAC Address MAC US DS US DS US/DS CHAN EXCLUDEDid Intf Intf SET SET
e448.c7c0.e3bc 11 11/0.0/0 4/0/4 1 257(1*5)e448.c7c0.ef3a 11 11/0.0/0 4/0/10 1 258(1*8)
37612 3834 Enhancement. Changes have been made in the software to increase the
response time for information returned with some show {upstream |
downstream} channel set commands. The commands optimized by this
change include:
• show upstream channel set
• show upstream channel set mac-domain
• show downstream channel set
• show downstream channel set mac-domain
37631 3834 A fix has been applied to ensure that SNMP trap notifications are now sent tothe SNMP agent when an SMM switchover occurs. The
casaSysMonNotificationString trap will report the SMM status change.
37706 3834 The message "ER-AAA-1: smm6: In AAADelUser, index 32 out of range!” has
been revised to a warning instead of an error. Service was not impacted by this
message.
37713 3834 Enhancement. The show spectrum hop-history command output now shows
the CM-mode modulation change SNR value (at the time of the poll) which
caused the spectrum hop. The CM-mode SNR statistics appear under the“Reason” column in the display with the word “CM.”
37716 3834 Enhancement. Up to four video mirror sessions can now be configured per
system chassis. These four sessions can be associated with one or more line
cards, not to exceed the chassis maximum of four mirrored sessions.
37762 3834 A fix has been applied to correct a DVB Simulcrypt tier-mode issue where the
continuity counter (CC) was not correctly increasing in networks using multiple
conditional access systems (CAS). CC errors were observed in ECMG
messages. The CC is now increased on packets from every CAS.

37779 3834 A fix has been implemented to correct an issue where the SNMP
docsIfUpChannelCloneFrom operation was setting channel frequencies
incorrectly.
37826 3834 A correction in the software logic has been applied to ensure proper handling
DHCPv4 packets with zero addresses when the dhcp unicast-forward
parameter is enabled. Unicast forwarding will not be allowed when the DHCP
source or destination IP address is 0.0.0.0.
37829 3834 Loopback packet processing for simultaneous encrypted and non-encrypted
upstream packets over an upstream channel has been revised to ensure
handling by a single process path. Previously, multiple paths would attempt to
write to the same bandwidth request concurrently, which could cause a
corruption to the upstream process.
37862 3834 An issue which was preventing the installation and removal of BGP routes at
the forwarding information base (FIB) has been fixed. Previously, route
changes associated with two similar routes were not being applied in the FIB.
37899 3834 Enhancement. The CLI show meminfo and the casaModuleTotalFreeMem
SNMP MIB object will now accurately report free memory statistics. When
show meminfo is executed, the memory cache will be properly cleared so that
accurate free memory statistics are presented.
37902 3834 An SMM ARP process failure which resulted in an SMM switchover has been
fixed. The failure was caused by received DHCPv6 packets with invalid packet
lengths. Checks for invalid packet lengths have been implemented in thesoftware to protect the ARP process.
37907 3834 A problem which was causing the SNMP ifStackTable to add DOCSIS MAC
domains already in use has been fixed. Checks of the ifStackTable have been
implemented to prevent the duplicate entries.
37924 3834 A latency issue which was causing Simulcrypt-encrypted video streams to NOT
use the full available bandwidth across a QAM channel has been fixed. The fix
supports up to 24 encrypted video channels at the full available bandwidth per
QAM channel.
37929 3834 In Simulcrypt video networks with redundant Entitlement Control Message
Generators (ECMGs), a retry issue under conditions when the first ECMG in the
redundant pair was not immediately reachable resulted in STB failures to
decode the encrypted video stream. This problem has been fixed.
37947 3834 There was a timing error in the startup/reset logic in the upstream card
software. This caused an error window which could generate an extra byte write
error at a frequency depending on the packet traffic condition. The timing error
has been fixed.

37977 3834 The show interface docsis-mac <number> topology command output has
been revised to display the channel modulation instead of the port modulation
in the Mod Type field. The Annex column now reports the channel annex
instead of the port annex.
37985 3834 New feature. Configuration support to enforce CPEs to be on the same VRF as
the cable modem has been implemented using the [no] cable sec
cm-vrf-enforce command.
When enabled, CPEs will be enforced to the same VRF as the cable modem
where packets will be allowed to pass. Packets from other VRFs will be
blocked. When the cable sec cm-vrf-enforce parameter is not configured or is
disabled (by default), then ALL packets will pass.
Example:
CASA(config)# cable sec cm-vrf-enforce
To disable:
CASA(config)# no cable sec cm-vrf-enforce
38049 3834 The show cable modem <mac-address> command now correctly reports
version D3.0 BPI modems. Previously, known D3.0 modems would display as
D1.0 version modems.
38087,38110
3834 A software change to include missing load balancing settings in the showrunning-config verbose command has been applied. The settings which now
display are:
• cable modem rebalance-interval
• cable modem retry-interval first
• load-balance interval
• load-balance permit dbc-chg-prim-ds
38091 3834 Handling of the DSG vendor-param-id encoding in the DCD message has been
revised so that only the 5-byte vendor OUI will be included. The vendor value
following the 5-byte OUI is now handled as an optional hex string.

38128 3834 Enhancement. The cable sec cm-vrf-enforce command has been moved
from the CLI global configuration to the interface ip-bundle and sub-bundle
configurations. This change addresses situations where cable modems which
are in different sub-bundles than their MTA devices would not be able to come
online with the CMTS. IPv4 and IPv6 modems are supported with this change.
The cable sec cm-vrf-enforce command change will not take effect until cable
modems are reset.38139 3834 The copy tftp CLI command no longer issues a ping request from the egress
interface source address to detect the TFTP source prior to starting the file
copy. If an ACL or other configuration which prevents the ping from completing,
then boot images would not be copied to the CMTS.
38192 3834 The supported UDP destination port range has been revised to the range 1-
65534. Previously, using the starting number 0 (any) in the port range would
cause all UDP traffic to be blocked in an ACL deny rule.
38234 3834 Enhancement. The number of supported entries in IPv4 and IPv6 prefix lists
has been increased to 150. See 40168 for an additional enhancement.
38259 3834 A fix has been implemented to the service flow creation logic to correct a traffic
forwarding issue after DBC on D3.0 IPv6-provisioned modems.
38276 3834 Enhancement. Support for the mdt-vrf interface for the ipMcastMIB and the
pimStdMIB in the PIM process has been implemented.
38293 3834 A problem which was sometimes preventing ACLs from completing
synchronization between the active and standby SMMs after editing an ACLfilter rule has been fixed. The synchronization problem was caused by an ACL
re-sequencing conflict while the standby SMM was rebuilding the filter rule.
38326 3834 In Simulcrypt video networks with redundant Entitlement Control Message
Generators (ECMGs), switching between the active and redundant ECMGs
caused a condition where the ECMGs remained in the crypto period extension.
The problem was observed in a network where a third and identical ECMG
interrupted the redundancy path between the redundant ECMG pair. This
problem has been fixed.

38606 3834 The problem which was causing DHCP REQUEST packets with a unicast
source and broadcast destination IP addresses to get dropped in QAM has
been fixed. The problem resulted in certain types of set-top boxes not being
able to acquire their IP address.

38623 3834 Enhancement. FPGA image information is now presented with the show
system command from the Casa diag mode.
38651 3834 A debugging problem which was causing invalid “unknown report” IGMP type
17 messages to flood the system log file has been fixed. A code change has
been made to the debugging routines to stop the multicast message flood.
38652 3834 Handing of MAP-REQ messages has been revised at the CMTS so that
modems are able to register and come online with the CMTS. Previously, and
during busy periods, the CMTS was not able to respond to the full volume of
MAP-REQ messages, which prevented some modems from coming online.

3834 Enhancement. The video channel-id-offset command has been introduced in
the Casa config mode to exclude DOCSIS channels from the video channel
numbering space. The specified offset indicates the number of reserved
DOCSIS channels; video channel numbering begins following the offset, where
the first video channel begins at 0.
In the following example with the channel-id-offset set to 32, channels 0 to 31
are reserved for DOCSIS. The remaining 16 channels (32 to 47) are video
channels where the first video channel starts at 0 and ends at channel 15.
Use the no form of the command to remove the video channel-id-offset
setting.
Example:C100G(config)#video channel-id-offset 32
This enhancement has also been implemented in the Casa Video Web
interface.

3834 Enhancement. The cable partial-service dbc-recovery command has been
added to the Casa configuration mode to allow automatic recovery of upstream
partial service channels using DBC (rather than a modem reset). DBC will be
used to recover the partial service channel using the specified time interval (in
the range 60 to 3600 seconds) between recovery attempts. This feature is
disabled by default. Use the no form of the command to revert to the default
setting.
Note: Only upstream channels that enter partial service with ranging timeout
can be recovered. This means that the channel was ranging successfully prior
to going into upstream partial service.
Example:
CASA-C10G(config)#cable partial-service dbc-recovery<60-3600> waiting time in seconds after upstream
channel partial service
CASA-C10G(config)#cable partial-service dbc-recovery 60
38765 3834 A problem which was preventing CPE IP packets with TTL=1 from being
forwarded to the SMM has been fixed. Previously, the CMTS was not being
observed as a next-hop when the CMTS has a route to destination IP. A change
to has been implemented in the software to ensure that traffic is resent to and
throttled by the SMM when a route look-up fails due to a short TTL.
38786 3834 IGMP messages and MAP requests on the upstream interfaces will now beblocked if IGMP is disabled in the DOCSIS MAC domain. (Use the no mgmd
ipv4 shutdown or the no mgmd ipv6 shutdown command to enable IGMP on
DOCSIS MAC interfaces).
Previously, with IGMP disabled in the interface docsis-mac configuration,
upstream multicast messages and MAP requests could consume system
resources and possibly prevent or slow cable modem registrations with the
CMTS.38806 3834 A fix has been implemented to correctly report IP addresses on IP bundle
interfaces. The ifType of the ifPhyAddress has been changed from 146 to 142.
38925 3834 A correction has been implemented in the software to return 0 for FALSE and 1
for TRUE in the IPDR-US-STATUS CmtsCmUsIsMuted MIB object. Previously,
the SNMP TruthValue was used.
38956 3834 A problem which was causing the ipNetToMediaPhysAddress SNMP MIB to
not return all MAC addresses in SNMP queries has been fixed.

38967 3834 DVB simulcrypt settings are now presented in the show running-config
[verbose} command output.
38968 3834 IPDR US-STATUS version A.2 has is now encoded correctly for
CmtsCmUsEqData. Previously, a string was applied instead of the hex binary
encoding.
38995 3834 A correction has been applied in the software to address an issue where the
upstream grant service (UGS) was being disabled when the voice-by-reserve
method is set to max-calls on the upstream interface. The problem was
observed after a modulation hop.
39001 3834 Enhancement. Casa has implemented a rate and priority based method to
mitigate Denial of Service attacks. All traffic going to the CPU is identified and
classified into a traffic flow, and each flow is separately rate limited, and
prioritized. Higher priority flows will be sentto the CPU first. Any traffic not
matching a flow, is considered Best Effort, and will be given the lowest priority.
39046 3834 The route-map software logic has been revised so that all match operations
under a single route-map must match (using AND logic). IPv4 and IPv6 match
clauses will return “match” if the prefix being compared does not match the
same address-family as the match clause so that route-map matching behavior
remains consistent with previous releases.
39085 3834 A problem which was causing some modems to get stuck in the (init)r state has
been fixed. The affected modems were using configuration files with classifiers
having an IP addresses comprised of all zeros.39109 3834 The maximum number of supported CPE MAC address entries on the
UPS16x8 module has been increased from 16k to 24K. MAC address entries
will be removed from the table when the affected cable modems go offline. In
the event of a UPS module switchover, CPE MAC entries are created only for
those CPEs and cable modems that are attached to the newly active module.
39158 3834 Enhancement. If video simulcrypt tier mode is configured, adding a QAM
channel to the QAM group now sets the DVD mode. Channels 0 to 7 of the
QAM port are reserved for DOCSIS only and are NOT allowed in the QAMgroup by the CLI.
Since the channel mode is in an 8-channel block, if one channel is changed to
DVB mode, then the full 8-channel block of this channel is changed as well.
39191 3834 Enhancement. The existing next-hop-self parameter has been added to the
VRF address-family for the Exterior Border Gateway Protocol (eBGP).

39232 3834 Management of the transmit socket buffer queue logic has been revised to
prevent a possible unpredictable system restart. The problem was caused by
the queue from filling up with the system attempting to gather and display
diagnostic information at the same time.
39279 3834 After an SMM switchover due to lost connectivity with a BGP VPNv4 peer route
reflector, the CMTS removed all routes (for graceful restart process) to this peer
when re-establishing connectivity. The graceful restart capability was notcarried in the BGP OPEN message when doing graceful restart negotiation.
39284 3834 An upstream packet loss issue which was observed on UPS16x4 channels has
been fixed in the upstream software logic.
39357 3834 The PID type field in the PMT runtime update has been changed to a 16-bit
field. Previously, the PID type was defined as an 8-bit field which caused
incorrect recovery of the ECM PID type after a QAM 8x96 module switchover.
This issue has been fixed.
39614 3834 After an SMM switchover, some video session setups would fail due to a
condition where bandwidth allocation was unavailable. The root cause of the
issue was a memory corruption which occurred after the SMM switchover,
causing the available bandwidth to be incorrect for some QAM channels.
39616 3834 Enhancement. The [no] video edis bandwidth-control has been
implemented in the Casa config mode to enable or disable video bandwidth
control for EDIS-based session setup.
Example:
CASA(config)#video edis bandwidth-control
39644 3834 Enhancement. Rate limiting of packets to the SMM from the RF side has been
implemented for improved traffic handling and throughput.
39770 3834 A issue was observed with an 8x4 channel-bonding modem where downstream
channels were being dropped during load balancing. A channel calculation
error in selecting the total number of candidate channels for load balancing has
been fixed to address this issue.39787 3834 A issue where the standby SMM was being incorrectly reported in the “NOT
READY” state instead of the expected STANDBY state in SNMP queries has
been fixed. There was no impact to service. The problem was caused by an
intermittent timeout at the standby SMM at the time of the SNMP poll. This
issue has been fixed.
39798 3834 A problem where the ECM PID in the PMT header descriptor was not being
remapped during a QAM module switchover. This resulted in the outgoing PID
being same as the incoming PID. This issue has been fixed.

39809 3834 Enhancement. The cable upstream snr-interval <0-600> command
functionality has been revised to perform SNR averaging over the configured
time interval instead of using the most recent burst interval. This enhancement
addresses issues where there are fluctuating SNR readings being reported with
each CLI or SNMP poll.
40137 3834 A software logic error which could cause an SMM switchover has been fixed.
The error resulted over a very short timing period when a DBC session wasclosing at the same time an affected cable modem was going offline. This
caused a reference to stale information leading to the SMM switchover.
40168 3834 Enhancement. The number of supported entries in IPv4 and IPv6 prefix lists
has been increased from 150 to 200. See ID 38234 for the previous
enhancement.
40170 3834 Enhancement. The number of supported IP community-list entries has been
increased to 120.
40246 3834 Enhancement. TACACS server keys can now be configured with embedded

Casa Systems CMTS Release Ver. 6.5.2
Known problems and restrictions in Release 6.5The following section describes the known problems and restrictions that remain
under investigation for resolution in an upcoming release.
6VPE traffic issue after configuration change (ID 44468)
After changing the port configuration to trunk while 6VPE is running, a forwarding
table synchronization issue with the BGP route table may occur causing 6VPE traffic
to stop. To fix the synchronization problem between the forwarding table and the BGP
route table, execute the clear ip bgp command to resume 6VPE traffic forwarding.
CMTS fails to ping the direct connection switch port (ID 44815)
An issue in which the CMTS fails to ping the direct connection GigE switch port in an
interface video configuration is under investigation. This is a ping issue only; the
problem does not impact service.
Restricted load balancing after SMM switchover issue (ID 43506)
After an SMM switchover, a situation in which some cable modems were not able to
recover and match the restricted load-balancing configuration has been observed. To
work around the problem, add the restricted load-balancing settings back into the
configuration after the switchover using the load-balance restricted-cm command.
Duplicate Address Detection (DAD) setting issue after reboot (ID 42998)
The ipv6 dad enable setting in the interface trunk configuration could be disabled
and reported with no ipv6 dad enable in the configuration after performing a system
reboot. To work around the problem, re-enable the duplicate address detection (DAD)
setting with the ipv6 dad enable command if the problem is observed.
Operational informationThis section covers operational issues and limitation associated with the CMTS
hardware and software.
Forwarding of clear multicast traffic (ID 42675)
A new behavior change has been introduced to ensure that all dynamic IPTV sessions
will only be allowed if there is a matching classifier defined in the multicast group
configuration. In the multicast group configuration, specify the group-address prefix

to match the supported multicast session. This is required to enable forwarding of both
clear and encrypted multicast IPTV streams. If not matched, IGMP join/leave packets
will be dropped.
An additional configuration parameter is necessary if encryption is to be applied to a
matching multicast sessions. If an encryption-id is not specified, then traffic is
forwarded as clear multicast.
The following multicast group configuration shows the specified group-address
prefix to match the multicast session. IGMP join sessions matching the
group-address prefix are sent to the SMM; non-matching IGMP join sessions are
dropped. In this example, the encryption-id and qos-id parameters are also specified
to indicate encryption and QOS treatment of the matched multicast session.
Example
multicast group config 1 source-address 0.0.0.0/0
group-address 239.195.0.45/32 <- mimimum requirement qos-id 1 <- only if QOS treatment is required encryption-id 1 <- only if this stream requires
encryption
Upstream 16x8 channel width limitation (ID 20212)
The UPS 16x8 module does not support channel widths less than 1.6MHz.
QAM replication limitation
Release 6.5 has the following limitation for QAM replication. This limitation will be
cleared in a subsequent software release.
Consider the following parameters to calculate and replicate QAM ports.
Where,
c — Is the number of active downstream QAM channels on a given RF port.
r — Is the number of channels to be replicated.
n — Is the number of RF ports for replication.
For any given port, c, r and n must be provisioned so that the following inequality
holds: (c + r * n /2) <= 48

Example: 32 active channels, 8 of which replicated to 4 other ports
Where c = 32, r = 8, and n =4 is a valid configuration
Example: 32 active channels, 16 of which replicated to 3 other ports:
Where c = 32, r = 16, and n = 3 is NOT a valid configuration.
Casa recommends that replication be spread across all participating ports.
Example: Replicating 32 channels of a port to 3 other ports.
On each port, choose the following configuration: c = 8, r = 8, n = 3.
Baseline Privacy Interface (BPI) and BPI-plus modems
When the bpi-plus-enforce setting is enabled at the CMTS, BPI cable modemsrunning DOCSIS 1.1 or higher that are not running BPI-plus will not be able to
register with the CMTS. However, non-BPI cable modems will be allowed to register.
Restricted load balancing groups
A restricted load balancing group MUST be a subset of a cable modem service group.
Otherwise, cable modems will not be able to reliably register with the CMTS.
Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol
In Release 6.0, the CMTS only supports RSTP as the bridging protocol. RSTP is
enabled by default. When using L2VPN with a redundant configuration, Casa
recommends enabling RSTP on the uplink switch to avoid broadcast loops.
Open Shortest Path First Protocol
After setting the interface OSPF hello-interval timer to a value less than the default
setting, you must also change the dead-interval timer and the transmit-delay timer to
a value that is four-times (4X) the hello-interval setting with a maximum value of
65535. These settings are required to establish adjacency with neighbor OSPF routers.
