Road safety has priority. Only op-erate your car radio if road and traf-fic conditions allow. Familiarise your-self with the unit before setting off onyour journey.You should always be able to hearpolice, fire and ambulance sirens ingood time. For this reason, set thevolume of your car radio at a suita-ble level.

InstallationIf you would like to install your car radioyourself, please read the installation andconnection instructions at the end of themanual.

Remote controlsThe most important functions of your carradio can be selected safely and con-veniently from the steering wheel usingthe remote controls RC 08, RC 10 orRC 10H (available as an optional ex-tra).

The radio cannot be switched on/off viaremote control.

AmplifiersAll Blaupunkt amplifiers are suitable foruse with the radio.

CD changerThe following Blaupunkt CD changerscan be connected to the radio:CDC A 02, CDC A 08 and IDC A 09.

Compact Drive MP3As an alternative to a CD changer, youcan connect a Compact Drive MP3 toaccess MP3 music tracks. If you con-nect a Compact Drive MP3, you will firstneed to use a computer to store the MP3music tracks on the Microdrive™ harddisk inside the Compact Drive MP3.Then, when the Compact Drive MP3 isconnected to the car radio, you can playthe tracks like normal CD music tracks.The Compact Drive MP3 is operated inthe same way as a CD changer. Mostof the CD changer functions can alsobe used with the Compact Drive MP3.

Amplifier / sub-out(only Casablanca CD52)The car radio provides connections forconnecting external amplifiers and asubwoofer.

We recommend you use well-matchedproducts from the Blaupunkt or Velocityproduct ranges.

NOTES AND ACCESSORIES FLIP/RELEASE PANEL

Flip/release panel

Theft protectionYour car radio is fitted with a flip/releasepanel to guard against theft. Without thispanel, the unit is worthless to the thief.Protect your unit from theft by taking theflip/release panel with you every timeyou leave the car. Do not leave the panelbehind in the car, even if it is out of sight.The constructive design of the panelmakes for simple handling.

Note: Do not drop the flip/release panel.

Do not expose the flip/release pan-el to direct sunshine or other sourc-es of heat.

Keep the flip/release panel in thecase provided.

Avoid direct skin contact with theflip/release panel. Please clean itwhen necessary with some whitespirit on a lint-free cloth.

Removing the flip/release panel

Press the button 1.

This unlatches the flip/release panel.

First pull the flip/release panelstraight and then to the left out ofthe unit.

After removing the flip/release pan-el, the unit switches itself off.

All the current settings are saved.

If there is a CD in the unit, it re-mains there.

Attaching the flip/release panel Slide the flip/release panel from left

to right into the unit guide.

Press the left side of the panel intothe unit until it slots into place.

Note: Do not press against the display

while attaching the flip/release pan-el.

If the device was still switched on whenyou removed the control panel, it willautomatically switch on again with thelast settings activated (i.e. radio, CD, CDchanger/Compact Drive MP3 or AUX)when the panel is replaced.

Switching on/offThere are various ways of switching thecar radio on and off, as described be-low.

Switching on/off using the ignitionIf the car radio is correctly connected tothe ignition and has not been switchedoff using the button 3, it is switchedon/off simultaneously with the ignition.

You can also switch on your car radiowhen the vehicle ignition is off.

To do so, press the button 3.

Note:To protect the vehicle battery, the unitswitches off automatically after onehour.

Switching on/off using the flip/release panel

Remove the flip/release panel.

The unit switches itself off.

Replace the flip/release panel oncemore.

The car radio is switched on. The lastsettings (radio, CD, CD changer/Com-pact Drive MP3 or AUX) are activated.

Switching on/off using the button3

To switch the unit on, press the but-ton 3.

To switch the unit off, hold the but-ton 3 down for more than twoseconds.

The car radio is now switched off.

Mute settingThis feature enables you to lower thesystem volume instantaneously (mute).

Briefly press button 3.

“MUTE” appears on the display.

Telephone Audio/NavigationAudioIf your car radio is connected to a mo-bile telephone or a navigation system,the volume will be muted as soon asyou “pick up” the telephone or the radiorelays voice output from the navigationsystem and the conversation or voiceoutput is heard through the radio's loud-speakers. In order for this to work, themobile telephone or navigation systemhas to be connected to the car radio asdescribed in the instructions. For this,you need adapter cable Blaupunkt no.7 607 001 503.

To find out which navigation systems arecompatible with your car radio, pleaseconsult your Blaupunkt dealer.

The volume at which telephone conver-sations and voice output from the navi-gation system are switched on is ad-justable.

Press the MENU button 8.

Press the button : repeatedlyuntil “TEL/NAVI VOL” appears onthe display.

Use the buttons : to set thedesired volume.

When you have completed the set-tings, press either the MENU but-ton 8 or OK ;.

Volume adjustmentThe system volume can be adjusted insteps from 0 (off) to 66 (maximum).

To raise the system volume, turnthe volume control 2 to the right.

To lower the system volume, turnthe volume control 2 to the left.

Setting the switch-on volumeYou can set the volume at which youwish the car radio to play when switchedon.


Press the or button : repeat-edly until “ON VOLUME” appearson the display.

Use the buttons : to set theswitch-on volume.

If you select “LAST VOL”, the volumeplayed before the unit was last switchedoff will be reactivated.

Note: To protect your hearing, the maxi-

mum switch-on volume under the“LAST VOL” setting is “38”. If thevolume was higher before the unitwas switched off and “LAST VOL”has been selected, the volume willbe set at “38” the next time the ra-dio is switched on.

When you have completed setting thevolume,

press the MENU button 8.

Note:You can adjust the volume for telephoneconversations and voice output whilethey are being heard by using the vol-ume control 2.

Automatic Sound(only Casablanca CD52)This function adjusts the volume of yourcar radio automatically to your drivingspeed. This requires your device to beconnected as described in the installa-tion guide.

The automatic volume booster can beset in six stages (0-5).


Press the button : until “AUTOSOUND” appears in the display.

Set the volume adjustment with the buttons :.

When the setting process is com-plete, press the MENU button 8or OK ;.

Note:The right speed-adjusted volume set-ting depends on noise levels inside yourcar. Try various values (0-5) until youfind the best setting.

Radio modeThis unit is equipped with an RDS radioreceiver. Many of the receivable FM sta-tions transmit a signal that not only car-ries the programme but also additionalinformation such as the station nameand programme type (PTY).

The station name appears in the dis-play as soon as the radio is able to re-ceive it and the RDS function is activat-ed. You can optionally display the pro-gramme type. For further details, pleaseread the section entitled “Programmetype (PTY)”.

Setting the tunerTo ensure that the tuner works proper-ly, the device must be configured foryour region. You can choose betweenEurope (EUROPE) and the USA (NAMERICA). By default, the tuner is setto the region in which the device wassold. If you experience problems withradio reception, please check this set-ting.

These operating instructions refer to the“N AMERICA” setting.


Keep pressing the button :until “TUNER AREA” appears inthe display.

Press the or button : forlonger than two seconds to switchbetween “EUROPE” and “NAMERICA”.

Switching to radio modeIf you are in CD, CD changer/CompactDrive MP3 or AUX mode,

press the FM TS button 5 for FMradio mode.

Switching the RDS function on/off To use the RDS functions, press

the RDS button 4.

The RDS function is active when RDSlights up in the display with a symbol.

Selecting the waveband /memory bankThis unit can receive programmesbroadcast over the FM and AM wave-bands. There are three memory banks(FM1, FM2 and FMT) for the FM wave-band and two memory banks (AM andAMT) for the AM waveband.

Six stations can be stored in each mem-ory bank.

To switch between the FM memorybanks,

briefly press the FM TS button 5repeatedly until the required mem-ory bank appears in the display.

To switch between the AM memorybanks,

briefly press the AM button ? re-peatedly until the required memorybank appears in the display.

Tuning into a stationThere are various ways of tuning into astation.

Automatic seek tuning

Press the or button :.

The unit tunes into the next receivablestation.

Tuning into stations manuallyYou can also tune into stations manual-ly.


Note:You can only tune into stations manual-ly on the FM waveband if the RDS andPTY functions are deactivated.

Setting the sensitivity of stationseek tuningYou can choose whether to only tuneinto stations with a strong reception orto also tune into those with a weak re-ception.


Keep pressing the button : un-til “SENS” appears in the display.

Press the button :.

The display shows the currently set sen-sitivity level. “SENS 6” means that thetuner is set to the highest sensitivitysetting. “SENS 1” is the lowest setting.

Set the required sensitivity usingthe or button :.

Storing stations

Storing stations manually

Select the required memory bank(FM1, FM2 or FMT) or the AMwaveband.

Tune into the required station.

Press one of the station buttons 1 -6 > for longer than two secondsto store the station to that button.

Storing stations automatically(Travelstore)You can automatically store the six sta-tions with the strongest reception in theregion. The stations are stored in theFMT memory bank in FM radio modeor in the AMT memory bank in AM radiomode.

Note:Any stations that were previously storedin these memory banks are deleted inthe process.

Keep the FM TS button 5pressed for longer than two sec-onds.

The station storing procedure begins.“TRAVEL-STORE” appears in the dis-play. After the process is completed, thestation stored in location 1 of the FMTor AMT memory bank will be played.

Listening to stored stations Select the memory bank or wave-

band.

Press the station button 1 - 6 >that corresponds to the station youwant to listen to.

Scanning receivable stations(SCAN)You can briefly play (scan) all the re-ceivable stations. You can set the scan-ning time (scantime) to between 5 and30 seconds in the menu.

Starting SCAN

Keep the OK button ; pressed forlonger than two seconds.

Scanning begins. “SCAN” appearsbriefly in the display followed by a flash-ing display of the current station nameor frequency.

Stopping SCAN and continuinglistening to a station

Press the OK button ;.

Scanning is stopped and the station thatwas tuned into last will remain active.

Setting the scantime Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the button : un-til “SCANTIME” appears in the dis-play.

Set the required scantime usingthe or buttons :.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENUbutton 8 or OK ;.

Programme type (PTY)Besides transmitting the station name,some FM stations also provide informa-tion on the type of programme that theyare broadcasting. Your radio can receiveand display this information.

For example, the programme types canbe:

Using the PTY function, you can direct-ly select stations of a particular pro-gramme type.

Switching PTY on/off


Keep pressing the or button: until “PTY ON” or “PTY OFF”appears in the display.

Press the or button : toswitch PTY ON or OFF.

When PTY is switched on, PTY lightsup in the display.


Selecting a programme type andstarting seek tuning


The current programme type appearsin the display.

If you want to select another pro-gramme type, you can do so bypressing the or button :whilst this display is visible.

Or

Press one of the buttons 1 - 6 >to select a programme type that isstored on one of these buttons.

The selected programme type is dis-played briefly.

Press the or button : to startseek tuning.

The next station corresponding to yourselected programme type will then betuned into.

Storing a programme type on astation button

Select a programme type using the or button :.

Keep the required station button1 - 6 > pressed for longer thantwo seconds.

The programme type is now stored onthe selected button 1 - 6 >.

Optimising radio reception

Treble reduction feature duringinterference (HICUT)The HICUT function improves receptionduring poor radio reception (only FM).If interference occurs, the treble is au-tomatically reduced thus reducing theinterference level.

“HICUT 0” means that no reduction willbe made, “HICUT 3” means a maximumautomatic reduction of the treble andinterference level will be applied.


Switching bandwidth duringinterference (SHARX)The SHARX function allows you tolargely avoid interference caused byneighbouring radio stations (FM only).Switch on the SHARX function if youexperience a high radio station density.

Keep pressing the button :until “SHARX” appears in the dis-play.

Press the or button : toswitch SHARX on/off.

“SHARX OFF” means automatic band-width switching is deactivated, “SHARXON” means it is activated.


Displaying scrolling textSome radio stations use the RDS sig-nal to transmit advertising or other in-formation instead of their station name.These scrolling texts appear in the dis-play.

You can deactivate the “scrolling text”display for stations that you have storedon the station buttons.

Keep the RDS button 4 presseduntil “NAME FIX” appears in thedisplay.

To allow scrolling texts to appear inthe display again, keep the RDSbutton 4 pressed until “NAMEVAR” appears in the display.

Note:If you tune into an already stored sta-tion using a different means (e.g. usingSCAN or by searching), the “scrollingtexts” will be displayed.

Setting the displayWhen in radio mode, you have the op-tion of continuously displaying the timeor continuously displaying the stationname or frequency.

Keep the DIS button 7pressed until the required displayappears.

CD ModeYou can use this unit to play standardCDs with a diameter of 12 cm.

CD-Rs and CD-RWs (CDs that youhave “burned” yourself) can generallyalso be played. Due to the varying qual-ity of CDs, Blaupunkt cannot guaran-tee that this will work properly.

To ensure the system functions proper-ly, only use CDs labelled with the com-pact disc logo. Problems might be ex-perienced when trying to play copy-pro-tected CDs. Blaupunkt cannot guaran-tee the proper functioning of copy-pro-tected CDs!

Risk of damage to CD drive!Single CDs with a diameter of 8 cmand CDs which are not circular(“shape CDs”) should not be used.We accept no liability for any dam-age to the CD drive that may occuras a result of the use of unsuitableCDs.

Starting CD mode If there is no CD in the drive,

Press the button 9.

The flip/release panel opens.

Gently insert the CD into the CDcompartment with the printed sideuppermost until you feel some re-sistance.

The CD will be drawn into the drive.Do not hinder or assist the drive as itdraws the CD in.

Close the panel using light pres-sure until you feel it latch into place.

CD playback begins.

If there is already a CD in the drive,

press the SRC button @ repeated-ly until “CD” appears on the dis-play.

Playback begins from the point at whichit was last interrupted.

Selecting a track Press one of the buttons on the ar-

row block : to select the next orprevious track.

If the or button : is pressed once,the current track is played again fromthe beginning.

Quick track selectionTo quickly select tracks backwards orforwards,

keep one of the buttons :pressed until fast reverse / forwardtrack selection begins.

Fast search (audible)For a fast search backwards or forwards

keep the buttons : presseduntil the fast search backwards orforwards begins.

Random play (MIX) Press the button 5 MIX >.

“MIX CD” appears briefly on the display,the MIX symbol lights up. The next trackplayed will be randomly selected.

Stopping MIX

Press the button 5 MIX > onceagain.

“MIX OFF” appears briefly on the dis-play, the MIX symbol goes out.

Scanning tracks (SCAN)You can briefly listen in to all the trackson a CD.

Hold down the OK button ; formore than two seconds. The nexttrack starts to play.

Note:The scanning time is adjustable. Readabout setting the scanning time in thesection “Setting the scanning time” inthe chapter “Radio mode”.

Stopping SCAN and continuingplayback

Press the OK button ; to endscanning.

The current track will then continue toplay.

Repeating a track (REPEAT) If you would like to repeat a track,

press button 4 RPT >.

“REPEAT TRCK” appears briefly on thedisplay, the RPT symbol lights up. Thetrack is then repeated until RPT is de-activated.

Stopping REPEAT

If you would like to end repeat,press the button 4 RPT > onceagain.

“REPEAT OFF” appears briefly on thedisplay, the RPT symbol goes out. Nor-mal playback is resumed.

Interrupting play (PAUSE) Press the button 1 >.

“PAUSE” appears on the display.

Ending Pause

Press the button 1 > during thepause.

Play then resumes.

Changing the display To alter the display between track

number and time or track numberand playing time or track numberand CD name, press the DIS 7button once or several times formore than two seconds until thedesired elements appear on thedisplay.

Naming CDsTo make it easier for you to recogniseyour CDs, the car radio offers an indi-vidual name option for 30 CDs. Thenames should have a maximum of eightdigits. If you attempt to allocate morethan 30 names, “FULL” will appear onthe display.

Entering/altering CD names

Listen to the desired CD.


Use the buttons : to select“CD NAME”.

Press the or button : twice.

You are now in the edit mode. If the CDyou have selected is still unnamed, eightunderlines appear on the display.

The current input position flashes.

Use the buttons : to selectyour characters. If a position is leftblank, you have selected the un-derline.

Use the or button : to pro-ceed to your next input position.

Press the MENU button 8 or OK; to save the name entered.

Clearing a CD name Listen to the CD whose name you

wish to clear.


Use the buttons : to select“CD NAME”.


Hold down the MENU button 8. Abeep sounds at the end of fourseconds and “DELETE NAME” ap-pears on the display.

Release the MENU button 8.

The CD name is now deleted.

Press the OK button ; to return tothe menu.

Displaying CD textSome CDs feature so-called CD text.The CD text may include the name ofthe performer, the album and the trackname.You can have the CD text displayed asrunning text at every change of track.After the CD text has been displayedonce, the standard display is used.Please see the section “Changing thedisplay”. If the CD in the player containsno CD text, “NO TEXT” will appear onthe display when the CD text function isactivated.

Press the button : repeatedlyuntil “CD TEXT” appears on thedisplay.

Switch on the CD text function bypressing the buttons :(“CD TEXT ON”) or off (“CD TEXTOFF”).

When you have completed the set-ting procedure, press the MENUbutton 8 or OK ;.

The flip/release panel opens to the frontand the CD is ejected.

Carefully remove the CD and closethe flip/release panel.

Random play (MIX) To play the tracks on the current

CD in random order, press the but-ton 5 MIX >.

“MIX CD” appears briefly on the displayand MIX lights up.

The track currently being scanned thencontinues play.

Interrupting Play (PAUSE) Press the button 1 >.

Ending Pause

Naming CDsTo make it easier for you to recogniseyour CDs, the car radio offers an indi-vidual name option for 99 CDs. Thenames should have a maximum of sev-en digits.If you attempt to allocate more than 99names, “FULL” will appear on the dis-play.

Entering/altering CD names


Use the buttons : to select“CDC NAME”.


The name of the CD appears on thedisplay.


You are now in the edit mode. If the CDyou have selected is still unnamed, sev-en underlines appear on the display.

The current input position flashes.

Use the buttons : to selectyour characters. If a position is leftblank, you have selected the un-derline.

Use the or button : to pro-ceed to your next input position.

Press the MENU button 8 or OK; to save the name entered.

Clearing a CD name

Listen to the CD whose name youwish to clear.




Hold down the MENU button 8. Abeep sounds at the end of four sec-onds and “DELETE NAME” ap-pears on the display.


The CD name is now deleted.


Clearing all CD namesAll CD names saved are deleted.

CLOCK - Time

Briefly displaying the time Press the DIS 7 button briefly

to display the time.

Setting the timeThe time can be set automatically us-ing the RDS signal. If you are unable toreceive an RDS station or the stationyou are listening to does not support thisfunction, it is also possible for you to setthe clock manually.

Setting the time automatically

To set the time automatically, pressthe MENU button 8.

Press the button : repeatedlyuntil “CLK MANUAL” (manual) or“CLK AUTO” (automatic) appearson the display.

Press the button : until “CLKAUTO” appears on the display.

Press the MENU button 8 or OK; once you have completed thesetting.

As soon as a station with the RDS timefunction (RDS-CT) is received, the clockis set automatically.

Setting the time manually

Setting the X-BASSX-BASS means that the bass is raisedto a comfortable level at lower volumelevels. You can adjust the X-BASS func-tion individually for all audio sources.When X-BASS is activated, the X-BASSsymbol lights up on the display.

EqualizerThis car radio is fitted with five parametricdigital equalizers, which can be set indi-vidually. This means you have the meansto save and request different equalizersettings for different situations (eg onlydriver, driver and front passenger or vehi-cle occupants in front and back).“Parametric” means that for each of thefive filters, one frequency can be individ-ually raised or lowered (GAIN +8 to-8). The following filters are available:

SUB LOW EQ 32 - 50 Hz LOW EQ 63 - 250 Hz MID EQ 315 - 1250 Hz MID/HIGH EQ 1600 - 6300 Hz HIGH EQ 8000 - 12500 Hz

These filters can be set without meas-uring equipment. This means that thesound quality inside the vehicle can begreatly influenced.

Presets for different car models (CARPRESETS) and musical styles (SNDPRESETS) can also be selected.

Notes on adjusting the equalizerWe recommend you use a CD you are fa-miliar with when adjusting the equalizer.

Before adjusting the equalizer, set thetone and volume balance to zero. To dothis, please see the chapter “Tone andvolume balance”.

Listen to the CD.

Evaluate the tone impression ac-cording to your taste.

Now consult the chart “An aid toadjusting the equalizer” in the“Sound impression” section.

Setting the level indicatorThe level indicator (spectrometer) onyour display briefly indicates the volume,tone and equalizer settings with sym-bols on your display as you make thecorresponding settings.When settings are not being made, thespectrometer indicates the original lev-el of the car radio.You can also set the type of spectro-meter on your menu.There are two types available.

External audio sourcesIn addition to the CD changer, you canalso connect up a different external au-dio source with a line output. Suchsources can be, for example, portableCD players, minidisc players or MP3players.If there is no CD changer connected toyour unit, two external audio sourcescan be hooked up.The AUX output has to be switched onin the install menu.To connect up an external audio source,you will need an adapter cable, obtain-able from any authorised Blaupunktdealer.

For the second AUX input, a “2” will bedisplayed instead of a “1”. If a CD chang-er is connected, only input “2” will beavailable.
