• WonadoptionofSeattle’sfirstBicycleMasterPlanalongwiththeessentialvoter-approvedfundstoimplement450milesofimprovementsby2017.

• BroughtthenationalCompleteStreetsmovementhometoSeattle,Redmond,Kirkland,IssaquahandTukwila.

• Coordinatedtwoyearsofsuccessfulstatewidebicycleandpedestriancountsin25citiesandtowns.

• OngoingworkintheWashingtonLegislaturetoseepassageofaVulnerableUserBill.

In1970ourfoundingmembershadtheforesighttoestablishtheorganizationwithbicycleadvocacyinmind,andthiscorevaluehasremainedavitalfocusaswe’veevolved.Withoutarespectedvoiceatthetable,therequests,needsandrightsofcyclistswouldbedismissed.

Througheducation,engagementandactivism,Cascadehasestablishedsolidrelationshipswithcity,countyandstateleaders.Ourorganizationhasinfluencedlegislationandpolicies,leadingtomajorvictoriesforbicyclingovertheyears.

Weactivelyengageelectedofficials,holdingthemaccountabletotheirwordandtoourmission.Byhelpingshapepoliciesandplanstobepro-bike,Cascade’sworkhasadirectimpactonourbuiltlandscape,ourtransportationchoices,ourenvironmentand—mostofall—ourcommunities.

Educationisn’tjustforkids.Thousandsofadultshavelearnedbikemaintenance,urbancyclingtechniquesandconfidentridingskillsthroughourprograms.OurBicycleAmbassadorsareoutinthepublicathundredsofevents,talkingwithpeopleaboutthebenefitsofbicycling.

IncreasingbicyclingfortransportationisoneofCascadeBicycleClub’stoppriorities.Webelievethatalmostanyonecanbicyclecommute—ridingsavesmoney,improveshealth,reducespollutionandisfun,allatonce.Throughbetterridingconditions,educationandevents,we’remakingiteasier—andmoreaccepted—formorepeopleacrossWashingtontochooseabicyclefortransportation.

Throughouttheyear,Cascade’sprofessionalstaffconsultswithcompaniesonplanning,programming,educationandbestpracticesto

helpthemgrowsuccessfulbicyclecommutingprogramsattheirworkplaces.Wehelpemployersrecognizethatbikingmakesgoodbusinesssensethroughlowerhealthcarecosts,decreasedparkingcosts,increasedemployeeretentionandabetterenvironment,intheofficeandinthecommunity.
