St . Joseph’s Hospi ta l Breese, I l l i no i s

St. Joseph’s Hospital is a full-service

hospital serving Clinton County,

Illinois since 1918. Through the

years, it has developed strong

community support, become fully

accredited and is a member of the

Hospital Sisters Health System, one

of the ten largest private hospital

systems in the country.

When renovations were needed

to improve and sustain the facility,

KI, an approved contract vendor,

was selected to supply furnishings

for various departments including

the board room, cafeteria, and

offices for transcription, doctors

and, most recently, administration.

“Furniture was selected to fulfill

specific functions,” says Jacolyn

Schlautman, Executive Vice

President.

“We wanted to provide affordable

work spaces that were also

aesthetically pleasing and offered a

high degree of functionality,” adds

Carl Kuhl, Director of Purchasing.

“The wood-grain laminate we chose

adds a rich look to the furniture.”

According to Schlautman, “We asked

the users to assess their space and

organization needs and worked

from there. We’d never selected a

wood finish before, but it’s proving

to be very durable and cleanable.”

“We wanted to prov ide a f fordablework spaces that were a lsoaesthet ica l ly p leas ing and of fered a h igh degree of funct iona l i ty.”

According to Kuhl, a strong influence

on the purchasing decision was the

high quality of service provided by

the KI rep. Mary Kay Wienkers

Director of Support Services agrees,

“He’s always been there for us

from the very first project. Even

when there were issues, the

problems were quickly handled.”

“The KI rep knows the products

extremely well. He listens to our

needs and then presents solutions

in a timely manner,” says Schlautman.

“KI’s help in planning to meet user

needs ahead of time saved a

tremendous amount of work,”

she adds. “Every day you pay the

price in efficiency for poor design.

KI provides superior design

functionality.”

“KI ’s he lp in p lanning to meet userneeds ahead of t ime saved a tremendousamount of work. KI prov ides super iordes ign funct iona l i ty.”

“Hospital employees have been

absolutely happy with the new

offices and spaces,” says Schlautman.

“Work areas are functional, pleasant

and very efficient.”

Kuhl agrees, “The feedback has

been very positive.”

Wienker adds, “I really like my own

office. Everything’s well organized

and the space is used efficiently. I can

even conduct small meetings in it.”

Schlautman says, “With KI products,

form follows function to create

well-organized spaces that are very

attractive. You get beautiful wood

and laminate finishes and colors that

coordinate throughout the hospital.”

For healthcare furnishings in all

functional areas, KI furniture is the

innovative solution.

“With KI products , form fo l lows funct ion to create wel l -organized spaces that are very attract ive.”
