Let’s Try some basic searches with citations

Select jurisdiction (citations don’t depend on jurisdiction—but names do)

In search box put case name from citation◦ i.e. Miranda v. Arizona (a U.S. Supreme Court

case)◦ Doody v. Ryan (a federal appellate court case)◦ People v. Storm ( a California supreme court case)◦ People v. Simpson *

Use basic search then use advanced search Advanced search uses Boolean and “field” search

◦ All of these cases deal with a Miranda issue

Searching by name

9

Click “cases” under Browse Select a specific case

◦ 10 most recent will appear

Let’s browse recent cases from California Court of Appeals—select most recent◦ What is the citation for the case?
