ConclusionThe new certified, fault tolerant data centre would utilise DRUPS technology for the continuous cooling requirements. The facility comprises a total of 30 racks with cooling via two independent chilled water systems and in-row cooling units within the data centre.

Power distribution, autonomy and a continuous cooling supply is provided by two DRUPS units, each supporting a dedicated diverse electrical distribution path and providing all IT and mechanical services with a no break on mains interruptions.

As the building had not originally been designed for a data centre, the team had to overcome a range of challenges to achieve continuous cooling and compartmentalised distribution paths for the electrical and mechanical systems.

Sudlows DMCC carried out a full detail design review of the system integrators proposal and supporting documents which were submitted to the Uptime Institute.

By carrying out regular QA visits during the project implementation our data centre engineers were able to ensure that the facility was suitable for commissioning. Sudlows DMCC commissioning team prepared detailed test scripts for the site and conducted the IST before ensuring the faclity was ready for the Uptime Institute engineer tests.

Our engineers carried out the demonstrations for the Uptime Institute TCCF Tier IV validation which was passed successfully and saw the facility achieve the Tier IV Constructed facility accreditation.

Passing the IST test played a major role in achieving the accreditation. Sudlows DMCC used our vast experience in data centre onsite testing and commissioning to generate and supervise the scripts of the IST. This ensured the facility obtained the Tier IV certification from the first round, saving the client a good amount of time and effort.

“Our experienced and accredited team were able to advise and implement the specified infrastructure that achieved the required Uptime Institute accreditation.”
