G.A.P.’s main task is to control twelve of the most important
Mexican Airports located on the east strip of the republic. They
replaced public administration during a privatization process,
practice which is taking place in multiple areas all around Mexico.
With its headquarters in Guadalajara, and with strategic partners
such as Aena, Grupo Dragados, Holdinmex and Union FENOSA, they
currently manage approximately 70% of the Mexican air traffic,
generated through the 12 airports at its charge.
SITUATION When G.A.P. took the transfer from public administration, they
decided to launch a plan to fully modernize and up date, including
the computer systems, which were technologically obsolete. One
of the main problems detected within the management system
was the lack of capacity to consolidate the information from all
different airports.
Within the search for new management software, certain crucial
requirements came up. For example; a full integration of the
system, flexibility in order to grow, ease of use and reduced periods
of time when installing, as the maximum time period available to
start running the new system was of only 3 months.
SOLUTION In full compliance with the terms of implementation and time
period, in February 2001 the first phase was successfully
completed. This included the mechanizing of accounting, budgets,
MIS and fixed assets. Furthermore, in July 2001 the installment was
completed by adding the management of stock and billing.
The project was structured in such a way that there would be data
bases in each of the airports and then a central data base where
information would consolidate through nocturnal replication of
data.
Thanks to this structure, G.A.P. obtained full amalgamation within
its management, but without losing the independency of each
airport
BENEFITS
The implementation of Atennea Airport rapidly began providing
benefits to G.A.P., such as, agility in day to day management, a
better overview of the business and important cost reductions in
administration.
Parallel to their growth and modernization of airports, their
management through Atennea Airport gained functionality and
incorporated new areas, thereby becoming their best ally when
working towards fulfilling their challenge of modernization and
offering better quality with their service in a profitable and
efficient way.
