Who must attend the hearing?
Applicants must attend the hearing. Respondents do not need to attend unless they are objecting to the application.
How long does the application process take?The process will take approximately three weeks. All parties will be notified of the hearing outcome in writing, within three working days from the hearing date. Respondents will also receive a referral letter for counselling.
Will my application definitely be successful?
The final decision to grant the Family Exclusion Order or Family Visit Limit lies with the Committee of Assessors. The Committee may, at any stage, dismiss any application that is frivolous.
What if immediate exclusion from the casino is needed?
If the Applicant is able to prove that the Respondent has caused, or continues to cause serious harm to family members, a Provisional Family Exclusion Order may be issued to exclude the Respondent from the casinos ahead of the hearing to determine the outcome of the application.
What is a Family Exclusion Order/ Family Visit Limit?
Family Exclusion Order and Family Visit Limit are measures put in place to allow family members to protect the family from further harm caused by an individual’s gambling habits. This is by way of applying to exclude an individual or limit his or her visits to the casinos.
