Procedure• SBDM Survey Committee began conceptualization
and design of survey in December 2011
• Three teachers on the committee gave input on survey questions
• Final survey approved by these teachers and principal in March 2012
• Survey sent to all Cassidy parents in the manner in which they receive Tuesday folders (electronically or on paper) on April 17

Response Rate
• 236 surveys were completed representing 343 of the 643 Cassidy students
• Response rate of 53%, significantly higher than response rate from 2010-2011 survey of 41%

Parent Participants• 77% female vs. 23% male
• 90% White, 8% Asian, 1% Black, < 1% Hispanic/Latino, < 1% Other
• 10% have children on free & reduced lunch
• 3.5 = average number of years each family has had children at Cassidy (range of 1 to 30)

Classroom Volunteering
In nearly each grade, parents were most likely to volunteer in the classroom by:1. helping with parties2. making donations3. chaperoning field trips4. reading

PTA Volunteering
• 55% of respondents had volunteered during the year, most only to a limited extent.
• The primary reasons people didn’t volunteer were work conflicts (76%) and lack of childcare (21%).
• 59% feel welcome at PTA meetings
