LVP procedures :
1. Available installations and equipment
a. RunwaysRunway 21 is approved for Cat III E4 operations. This runway 21 is equipped with an ILS, approach lights over 720 m as well as atouchdown area made up of unidirectional white lights, arranged in pairs of stripsplaced symmetrically with relation to the runway axis, starting at threshold of runway21 over 900 m.The axial lighting indicating the clearing of runway 21 by center taxiway is madeup of alternating yellow and green lights between the runway axis and the holdingpoint C.For outbound aircraft, only holding point C is usable.
In LVP phase:- Inbound aircraft land on runway 21 and are cleared from center taxiway.- Aircraft landing is possible only if, when arriving at 4 NM from the threshold ofrunway 21, the previous inbound aircraft has cleared the ILS sensitive and criticalareas of runway 21.- In case of simultaneous departure and arrival, inbound aircraft can start is approachonly if, when arriving at LOE in final approach for runway 21, the outbound aircrafttakes off. The landing clearance is delivered at 4 NM in final approach for runway21.
b. TaxiwaysTaxiing is limited to center taxiway.
c. CommunicationsPilots are informed by the ATIS when the LVP procedures are in progress. Themessage on the ATIS indicates that:- The LVPs are effective on runway 21,- The RVRs will be given on first contact on the control frequency,- The flight crew must check its minima before starting the approach. The ATIS also indicates the possible failures of equipment relating to the LVPs.
The RVRs measured on touchdown, mid-runway and end of runway 21 will betransmitted to the pilots:- On departure, at the latest on runway 21 before take-off,- On arrival, at the latest at 4 NM from touchdown on runway 21.
2. LVP implementation and end criteria
The LVP phase starts when the RVR is less than or equal to 800 m or if the ceilingis less than or equal to 250 ft.The LVPs end when the RVR becomes greater than 800 m again, the ceiling greaterthan 250 ft and improvement of these conditions is expected.
3. Other information
Due to the absence of stop bars, under LVP conditions, taxiing will be limited tothe movement of only one aircraft at a time on the platform. An aircraft will be cleared for starting taxiing only when the previous one hasannounced its arrival at the parking stand or its take-off.
