Summer is upon us and kids are out of school! Please keep an eye out for joggers, bikers and children as you

drive thru the neighborhood.In this issue, you will find Jesse’s Manager’s Report includes

updates and reminders on the pool, tennis courts, play scape etc. If you are new to the Villas, please do not hesitate to contact Jesse if you have questions.

Jesse has worked very hard to clear trees in the pool area and it looks fantastic! On occasion, residents host large groups at the pool for parties, we would appreciate if you are going do this, please give Jesse a “heads up” so he can make sure the pool levels can accommodate a large number of guests and we do not have to close the pool to “shock” it later.

I’d like to thank the many responsible dog owners who continue to pick up after their animals and take pride in our neighborhood.

We are currently revamping our HOA website and it will take on a more modern look and feel to be responsive to newer mobile

President's Messagedevices. It will continue to be a resource for information and host copies of our covenants, Bylaws, ECC Forms, Club house rental information, etc. We will also be modifying the clubhouse WiFi available at the pool to make it a bit easier to use.

A quick reminder about dues. They are currently $47 per month. We will be sending invoices to all residents who are behind at the end of June. Please contact your bank or payment provider and update your payment and make a special payment to catch up.

In closing I would like to request that you please update Jesse with any contact info changes. It is imperative that we maintain an accurate database with name, address and contact info (email /phone) for all homeowners in the association. We need to be able to contact residents in case of emergency. Please email Jesse at [email protected] and share this information.

Cat Mountain BOOK CLUB

SWIMMING POOL:Swimming season is in full swing and the kids will soon be

out of school for the summer.Please note the Pool Rules sign has been revised, please review

and familiarize yourself with the rules. Glass of any kind is not allowed at the pool, please choose plastic or aluminum containers for everyone’s safety. Please take any trash home with you when you leave the pool area. The furniture was purchased last year so please care for it as if was your own and put chairs back after you leave. We would also like to remind dog owners that dogs are not allowed in the pool. There is also no smoking in the pool area.

If you are planning to have a large number of children or adults visit for a pool party, please let the manager know even if you are not renting the clubhouse, so he can take steps to be certain the pool is in the best possible condition for your group.

If you see anything that needs attention or maintenance, please contact the manager. Pool keys are also available from the manager.

PLAY SCAPE:The play scape was rebuilt last year and is in great shape,

we encourage parents of small children to have some fun, we would ask that you pick up any trash as you leave.

TENNIS COURTS:The nets on the courts have been repaired or replaced, please

do not jump or hang on the nets to avoid damaging them. The wind screens at the tennis courts have been reattached after strong winds tore it down. We have removed the trash cans from the courts as they were being used by dog owners to dispose of dog waste. Please carryout your trash, ball containers and drink

MANAGER’S REPORTcontainers as you depart. Tennis court keys are available from the manager. Please let the manager know if you see anything requiring maintenance.

REMINDER HOA DUES AND PAYMENTS:I would like to remind residents that dues have increased

$2.00 per month to $47.00. If you don’t use the coupon book that was mailed to you and pay electronically thru your bank, please update your payment provider so that your account will be up to date. Please contact me and I will take you off the mailing list for coupon books.

Cat Mountain Homeowners Association

Saturday, June 6Play Date Gathering. Many Cat Mountain neighbors have asked if there is a list of other parents looking for playdates for their kids during the summer. So we hosted a short gathering of parents with children at the pool, for parents interested in meeting others with similar aged children. If you were not able to attend we compiled an email list with parents contact numbers and childrens ages. CAT MOUNTAIN VIEW

The Cat Mountain Homeowners Association manager, Jesse Chargualaf, almost didn’t make it into this world. His mother was pregnant with him in Guam at the outset of WWII, and he was born hiding from Japanese soldiers in a cave during the island’s occupation. Jesse is one of fourteen siblings who grew up in the aftermath of the war, spear and net fishing, gathering fruits in the jungle, and raising farm animals to feed a very large extended family. Jesse’s father made the family’s fishing nets with fibers gleaned and woven from jungle leaves.

After Jesse graduated from high school, he joined the US Army intending to see the world. He volunteered for airborne training, becoming a master parachutist. Upon arriving in his first Special Forces unit, he was sent for Greek language training, not because he looked Greek but because nobody else could pass the course! Later he would spend time at the Defense Language Institute learning Vietnamese before literally being dropped alone in the jungle in the South Vietnamese Delta as an intelligence liaison.

Much of Jesse’s thirty-year military career was spent in Special Forces units, and he traveled around the world on a moment’s notice. He enjoyed many years stationed in England and in Germany. Before retiring he was the G-2 (Intelligence) sergeant major for the 2nd Infantry Division near the DMZ in Korea, the Department of Surveillance and Systems Maintenance sergeant major at the US Army Intelligence Center and School at Fort Huachuca, AZ, and the G-2 (Intelligence) sergeant major for the 7th Infantry Division in Fort Ord, CA.

Jesse was well known in the Army for having the best-trained soldiers. In his mid-thirties he was still running two miles in nine minutes flat! His Green Beret troops at Fort Bragg called the grueling physical fitness training the Brown Man’s Mile because the mile started when he said it did and, although they might run with him

at a quick clip for hours, that mile didn’t end until he said it did. He also loves to play basketball and volleyball, having done many skill demonstrations at high schools while simultaneously coaching the All-Army women’s volleyball team.

Jesse is married to Gay, a sports director he met in Germany. Gay, who comes from a rodeo family, entertains Texas visitors with authentic cowgirl rope spinning and songs from the Old West. Their daughter, Nicole, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and works for the Texas Legislative Council. She is the immediate past president of Austin Junior Forum. Her husband, Tom, is with the Texas Workforce Commission and is completing a University of Texas master’s degree this summer in public administration. Nicole’s brother, Jay, holds an aeronautical engineering degree with a concentration in computational fluid dynamics from Purdue University. Jay was a member of the national champion U-18 Houston Texans soccer team. You will sometimes see him at Cat Mountain volunteering technical support to keep his dad’s computer running smoothly.

Whenever Jesse gets a moment, one can find him adoring his wee granddaughter, Elizabeth, or gardening at the Deep Eddy Community Garden. The folks at Deep Eddy think he’s the hardest-working person they’ve ever seen. Nobody knows how he finds the energy.

Presidents Note: I would like to thank Jesse for his 20+ years of service with our HOA. He is invaluable to the board and neighbors and we always tell him the knowledge he has of Cat Mountain is unprecedented. We appreciate all his hard work, his commitment & dedication to our neighborhood and have enjoyed getting to know Gay, Nicole, Tom & Jay throughout the years and it warms our heart to see Jesse with his new granddaughter. Thank you Jesse from the Board of Directors for all you do!
