Our snow blower, “Jaws” is still sitting in front of my garage. Even with the 70 degree weather, I am notconvinced that we will not have one more big snow. However, you know that if it’s going to snow, it will be on theday of the Spring Dustoff, May 20, for sure.

Many thanks to Vance Moorman, owner of Double Ribbon Detailing for the entertaining presentation he gave atthe RMJC meeting April 10th. Very interesting to hear how a Medical Sales Rep became such an avid Ferrariowner and car detailing specialist. It was also very timely that we had this great presentation on how to clean acar to Concours quality, right before the beginning of “event season”. After hearing of Vance’s “secrets”, I amexpecting that the scores will inch up this year! Be sure to put in your reservation for a discounted detailing soonas there will be limited spots available. You might have to edge Brent McGibbon out of a slot!

At the May 8 General Meeting we are looking forward to a presentation from Terri Armstrong, Special EventsManager from CP of Colorado. Terri is one of the CP staff that is heading up the 29th “CP Exotic Sports CarShow and Concours d’Elegance “ which as you know is coming up on June 10. The CP show has become one ofthe largest exotic car shows in the West, with over 500 cars expected this year. RMJC is one of the founding CarClubs of the CP show, as well as a current sponsor. We will also be honored by having Jack Braly’s XK140 in theFounders Circle of the Colorado Grand cars being highlighted this year. As many of you asked for thispresentation, be sure to join us for a good turnout for Terri as she discusses CP of Colorado, fundraisingopportunities, and what it takes to put on a car show of this size.

The RMJC Concours d’Elegance in Copper Mountain is gaining on us. At this time, over 60 Board members from35 clubs around the US have been invited to spend a weekend in the Rockies with us. In addition, most all of ourold friends from AGM’s and Western States past have been invited. We are looking to have 50 cars, hopefullymore, in Copper to celebrate the “weekend before the 4th” with us. We currently need two things to make thisevent a spectacular success: sponsors and registrations. Chat with people that you do business with about beinga sponsor for the Concours! We have a full slate of activities and many sponsorship opportunities for small, medium and large businesses. Many of the companies we work with as Jaguar owners, depend on the Jaguarbrand to survive, and on us as Jaguar supporters to help sell the Marque. Ask your detail shop, your mechanic, your leather workers, and your dealership to support RMJC and its activities, and give themselves a direct line totheir target market; us. We would really like to see them come up and participate in the activities and spend aweekend in the mountains with us. Remember to get your registrations in now or as early as you can! Theplanning process is well underway and this past week we negotiated for a large grassy area for the show! Hardto believe the Concours is only two months away.

…Take the Leap!!

April did not bring the rain showers we have beenexpecting from past years, and neither did it bring snowhere nor in the mountains. And although the reservoirsare adequate for this year, we will in all likelihood bepracticing water conservation this year, just in case werepeat our way into a drought situation next year.

But the warm sunny weather has brought out theconvertibles early. I have had mine out on the road atleast once a week if not more for the past two months.

Several big events are coming up: RMJC Spring Dust-Off, CP Exotic Sports Car Show, and RMJC Top of theRockies Concours d’ Elegance at Copper MountainResort. There will not be a whole lot of breathing roomin between events either, as the BOD Meetings andRegular Meetings will still be happening, right along withSpecial Events like the Havana Cruisin to the Oldies, and the Shared 50th Anniversary Parties immediatelyfollowing the CP Show.

So get ready to show and shine and...I’ll be seeing you(the proof is in the pictures!)

RMJC Board Meeting Minutes April 3, 2012

President Howard Mumm called the meetingto order at 7:45 P.M. at the Eisnachs’ home(board members Barrington and Scott werenot present).

Howard asked for officer reports and for newand old business before discussion of theclub budget. Chris B. has indicted that hewill probably have to vacate his position onthe Board and we may need to replace him.Howard will contact him and discuss thematter.

Ray discussed various aspects of thenewsletter and we talked about a newadvertiser. Cyndi suggested that allsubmissions to Ray be acknowledged by himwith a short “OK received” to ensure that allitems get included.

The primary topic for this meeting was the2012 budget; Bob had prepared an event-cost-income summary which Howard had putinto a spreadsheet and distributed to themember.

Rob reported the club has had approximately$10K in income and $7K in expense thisyear and has about $8K in savings and$7.2K in the checking account. Thenewsletter printing and postage is the mostcostly direct expense of the club andpossible increases in advertising, both innumber of ads and in advertising rates, werediscussed. Bob discussed the effectivenessof our ads and if the advertisers get goodvalue for their money. It appears that thenewsletter cost is paid about 1/3 by

advertisers, ½ by membership dues and thebalance from income from the variousevents. One of the purposes of this meetingwas to systematically identify those eventswhich could generate extra income tounderwrite the newsletter costs.

The budget for the Copper MountainConcours this summer was presented indetail by Cyndi. Much of the discussionconcerned requesting sponsorship supportfrom various vendors.

Each of the other events being planned thisyear was reviewed to determine which needclub funding. For those a preliminary dollaramount was approved by the board and thetreasurer will work those amounts in theyears overall budget.

Other club operating expenses such as themonthly Club Cakes, Presenter Meals/Miscl.and various Recognition Awards werereviewed. It was moved and approved tobegin a “Membership Anniversary Awards”program starting at 10 years of clubmembership and with 5 year additionalrecognition points. Deanie will put thatprogram together as she has the data formember joining dates.

The last budget item considered was “CapitalExpense”. It was decided to acquire threenew tents with two being for replacement ofworn club tents and one as a replacement fora member’s tent destroyed at slalom lastyear. Frank will research those items andreport to the board at the monthly meeting.Rob was authorized to obtain two digitaldisplays to provide immediate course timesto the slalom drivers.

The board then thanked Linda and DwightEisnach for hosting the board meeting andHoward adjourned the meeting at 10:03 P.M.

RMJC General Meeting Minutes April 10, 2012

President Howard Mumm opened the meeting at 7:30 by describing the recent Board meeting where the 2012 budgetwas discussed. Rob van Westenberg, treasurer, then reviewed the status of the club finances and stated that the clubis in a good budgetary position with adequate identification of incomes and expenses. This will allow the clubs to moreadequately track the true expenses of every event. Howard then presented the idea of asking some of our vendors to“sponsor” particular events for the club with appropriate recognition coming to them for their effort.

Deanie Kennedy talked about the May 20th Dust-Off. It will start at the Kennedys’ home at 8:30 am with sticky buns andchampagne followed by the drive to a location where we will do a special tour. Lunch ($30/person) will follow the tourand she assures us this will be a really fun day. She even promised good weather for the event. Sign-up on the club’sweb site or mail check to Deanie.

Howard and Cyndi Mumm staffed the Club Auto booth at the recent Denver Auto Show and passed out discountcoupons for the CP Show on June 10th at the Arapahoe Community College. We are striving for 40 Jaguars at theshow. Sign up on the CP web site (go direct or use the link from the RMJC web page). The club will do a cooperativelunch as usual.

Don Leach and Cyndi gave a review of the planning for the summer Concours starting June 29th at Copper Mountain.Cyndi reviewed the various events in detail for the three day program. In addition to the Concours d’Elegance showthere will also be scenic drives and other things to do in this beautiful setting. She recommends driving up on Fridayafternoon/evening to have adequate time on Saturday to get ready for the car show and judging. See our club webpage for more information and to register for the event; call the Copper Mountain Center directly to make roomreservations and to get the 25% discount on room rates for the club members by May 30th.

Steve Kennedy talked about the April 21st Judges School at Club Auto in NW Denver. He encouraged everyone toconsider coming to the school to learn how to judge and how to prepare their car for Concours.

Frank Oakley gave a report of his research on replacement tents and canopies. There are problems in obtaining thedesired tent size that folds to a small enough package for Jaguar transport. The issue will continue to be worked onuntil suitable items are located.

Deanie reported the club has 121 members. There were five members present at the Piccolo’s meeting for the firsttime: Art & Barb Dyne (XK8, XJS), Alan Schocket & Karen Miklin (2002 XKR) and Frank Sullivan (2001 X-type). Wealso learned that Frank Hummel is experiencing significant cardiac problems and may require surgery and we extendedour best wishes to him and Claudia.

Howard then explained that our scheduled speaker for the evening had canceled but Brent McGibbon arranged for hisneighbor to come and talk to the group. Brent then introduced Vance Moorman of “Double Ribbon Detail”.Vance told a great story of how he was introduced to fine motor cars by his older brother and has subsequently becamevery involved in the art and science of detailing cars. In recent years he has shown various cars including his 1967Ferrari 333 and so often won both “First Place” and “Best of Show” that he coined the idea of preparing cars for “DoubleRibbon” shows.

Vance formed his “Double Ribbon Detail” company and does custom detailing preparation and presentation of cars. Hehas particular interest in engine detailing and discussed various problems raised by members in the Q&A following hisslide show presentation. It was a delightful personal story of his passion for the enjoyment of fine cars and was enjoyedby both the men and women at the meeting. He can be reached at [email protected] if you would like todiscuss work on your car and he is offering our club members a 15% discount.

Following the raffle, with prizes won by all the new members, the meeting adjourned at 8:54 P.M.

Collector Car Council of Colorado, Inc.

President: Dick Thompson, Mile High Cobra Club 303-699-48191st Vice President: Gary Canady, Pontiac Oakland Club Intl. 303-886-79232nd Vice President: Mel Bacon, Rocky Mtn. Packards 303-659-9345Secretary: Dick Fritz, MG Car Club 303-774-9710Treasurer: Tom Kay, Front Range Mustang Club 303-451-9296

Minutes of Meeting, 4 April 2012

The meeting was held at the Phil Long Ford agency in the Chapel Hills Auto Mall, Colorado Springs Colorado.

The meeting was called to order by the president, Dick Thompson, at 7:39 pm, which was nine minutes late because thepresident got lost. Officers present were Dick Thompson, president; Gary Canady, 1st vice president; Dick Fritz, secretary; and Tom Kay, treasurer. 38 member clubs were represented. Guests and new representatives wereintroduced.

Legislative issues: Leo Boyle was unable to attend as he had to be at another meeting. Harold Naber filled in withcurrent information. House Bill 1014 (reducing late registration fees) is still alive but will face strong opposition in theSenate. House Bill 1291 (late registration fee elimination for collector vehicles) has been withdrawn as there is aprovision in the CRS that allows payment of ownership tax that avoids late registration for immobile vehicles. The twoHouse Bills dealing with Salvage Title vehicles have both been defeated. Senate Bill 95 (Requirements for valid titletransfers) is still being debated and amended. The VIN identification problem when a pre-1954 vehicle has an enginechange does not appear to be resolved without a change in the CRS, which will require a bill to be drawn up in 2013.

Guide to Colorado Statutes regarding Collector Vehicles: The brochure that Harold Naber and John Mack havebeen assembling is now in draft form. A final version will add a couple of overlooked items dealing with kit cars. GregAkiyama is formatting the brochure for distribution, and it will also be available on the CCCC web site.

Forty five clubs have renewed so far. The Treasurer’s Report was approved as presented.

Membership Chairperson: Still looking for one good man, or woman. Note: After the meeting, Ken Rogers ofVMCCA Pikes Peak Chapter volunteered to assist in this capacity. We appreciate !

Name Badges: Council representatives have traditionally been given name badges identifying the clubs they representand since the name of the council has been changed, new badges are needed. Two proposals have been received with apotential total cost of about $500. This was not budgeted at the beginning of the year. It was decided to table action onthis matter until a later meeting.

Swap Meet in conjunction with the Front Range Airport Vintage Aircraft and Car Show (August 18): GaryCanady reported that plans are moving ahead on schedule. Separate flyers targeting vendors and buyers have beenprepared and these may be printed back-to-back. Vendor move-in will begin at noon on Friday, August 17. Clubs areurged to consider having a swap space to sell parts and welcome potential members. Workers will be needed forregistration, traffic and parking, and clean up. Roger Zaner will coordinate volunteers. As usual, clubs that provideworkers will share in the profits on the event. We are considering having a vintage car auction later in the afternoon, using one of the Front Range Airport hangars. There will of course also be the car show and air show on that day.

Cruises (Havana, June 16, and Colfax, September 15): Times for the Havana Cruse were clarified: it will run from 2pm to 8 pm, but workers are needed before and after those times. Dick Thompson reminded everyone that he stillneeds volunteers to help organize and work the cruises, first of all the Cruizin’ Havana event. Clubs that work willhave a free advertisement in the program and are invited to attend the VIP dinner the evening before the cruise.

Looking Glass Corvette Association will handle t-shirt distribution, but will need to know what sizes to order. The firstprize for the poker run will be a 5-day cruise (boat, not street rod).

Tax Status for the CCCC: After the council has filed its income tax report for 2011, we will explore the possibilityof applying for 501( c ) 7 status. This is a non-profit category that would still permit the sorts of activities weundertake. Accountant and legal advice will be sought.

Colfax Marathon (May 20th): Organizers of the Denver Marathon have requested that car clubs provide vehicles todisplay at featured locations along the route. Great publicity and free food available. If you can help, call DickThompson (303-699-4819) or CCCC at 303-752-6755.

Demographic Info: As a follow on to the Presidents Round Table discussions, we would like to get more informationabout the number and vintage of vehicles owned by club members.

Colorado Collector Car News: The council’s feature newsletter is published by email distribution by Greg Akiyama.CCCN is a good place to advertise upcoming club events, also The Latest Scoop. Greg needs the support of individuals, club, and advertisers. To receive the CCCN (free by email), contact [email protected] .

Club event flyers: Flyers can be sent to Dick Thompson for posting on the CCCC web site.

June, July, and August meetings: The June 6th meeting will probably be held at some location on Havana St. inAurora, in preparation for the Havana Cruise. More details to come. The regular July meeting would have been onJuly 4th, which would be inconvenient. After discussion about moving the date, it was moved (Abeyta) and seconded(Glusick) that the July meeting be cancelled. The motion passed. Representatives can celebrate without CCCCfireworks. The August 1st meeting will probably be held at Front Range Airport near Watkins. Again, more detailswill be forthcoming.

Thanks ! The Southern Colorado clubs and Phil Long Ford were thanked for hosting this meeting and providingsnacks.

Next Meeting: Wednesday, May 2nd, in Longmont at the ColoRODans club house at 209 Kimbark Street. To reach this location, take I-25 to Exit 240 and go West on Colo.119.At Main St. (also US287) in Longmont, turn right (North). After the railroad tracks, turn right on 2nd Ave. and then left on Kimbark.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:34 pm.Respectfully submitted, Richard Fritz, secretary
