WORD

SIt has already been 80 years since my grandfather, Louis-Philippe, handcrafted his first pair of work boots for those working the land. It was after the great crisis of 1929. Times were rough and the climate was arid.

Faced with every challenge life sends his way, Louis-Philippe believed in people’s ability to overcome obstacles if they roll up their sleeves and use their creativity. “If others can do it, so can we!” – he would say. Inventive, resourceful, hardworking, he was a man of character!

His tenacity, determination and discipline are fundamental values that have been passed on - three generations later – to today’s business.

In this sense, we could not have asked for a better ambassador than Georges St-Pierre, who embodies these same values through hard work, obsession with detail, desire to constantly raise the bar, and respect for his art.

ROYER®’s DNA is, as the slogan states, “Hard work commands respect.” I want to salute all those who proudly wear - in their heart and on their feet - this mark of respect.

Finally, congratulations to all our craftsmen for these 80 years of accomplishment. The at-tention devoted to making each of our products reflects your consideration for those who wear them.

The outer soles are made from an antistatic compound, chemically bound into the bottom components, capable of dissipating an electrostatic charge in a controlled manner. The test criteria are 106 to 108 Ohms. Note that SD footwear without toe protection will not have sole pro-tection certified by CSA. What brought me in the footwear business was the poverty of my family who survived meagerly of a small lot of land. I had begun selling my work boots through a peddler who went door to door. Since my parents and siblings were out of work, I asked them to join me so that we could make more boots and try to survive together.
