DETAILSThe 500b series woofers bene"t from the highest quality parts available, close production tolerances, and hand built assembly techniques as do all DD woofers. The motor and moving systems have been designed to get higher e#ciency from lower powered systems. The suspension sti!ness and excursion capability were carefully dialed in through many real world test samples. DETAILSThe 2500 'a' Series subwoofers were designed to extract the highest performance from today's power crazy car audio systems. High powered sound systems require high power subs that are built to handle the load. The 2500s match up well with the 500-800 Watt RMS amps driving a single woofer, or the 1000-1600 Watt RMS amps driving a pair.

Optimum performance requires a unique blend of design parameters/materials for these subs to hit hard, sound great and last a long time. The motor uses dual 25mm thick magnets sandwiched between 12mm thick, machined steel plates. Internal cooling vents from our Free Flow Cooling System keep fresh air circulating around the voice coil.

DD developed a radical new coil design, The RadCoil, for our Z Series subs; a coil with a built-in heat sink and a series of cooling radiators to move heat away from the coil wire and be dissipated through the Free Flow Cooling System. The voice coil uses the same high temperature wire and adhesives as our 9500 Series. The 2.5" voice coil diameter has su!cient surface area to handle the long term heat buildup while low enough in mass to keep high e!ciency.

The surround uses our EROM pro"le, copied en masse to become an industry wide standard. The EROM design gives long, controlled excursion while keeping the cone diameter as large as possible. This pro"le also saves mass over the sculpted rubber surrounds and inner tube style surrounds, less mass is louder and faster.

The cone is our multi-"ber synthetic blend, the same type of "ber used in the highest power handling concert drivers, not punched out from bleach bottle plastic. These special cones are designed for the highest strength with the lowest weight, again, lighter is louder and faster.

We developed the most electrically e!cient connections, the Direct Connect, one of the latest DD innovations to be copied the world over. Our 10 gauge power cable provides perfect copper to copper twisted connections. Direct Connect allows virtually any gauge and number of speaker wires to be connected without signal loss.

DETAILSThe new 3500 'e' Series subwoofers have been redesigned to utilize more features and manufacturing techniques from the 9500 series. The "e" series changes include new cast baskets with more cooling and more excursion, larger magnets (the magnet weight jumps to 240 ounces), longer coil windings and increased internal motor cooling.

The 35s feature the same voice coils used in the 9500 Series - 3 inches in diameter. DD developed a radical new coil design, The RadCoil, for our Z Series subs; a coil with a built-in heat sink and a series of cooling radiators to move heat away from the coil wire and be dissipated through the Free Flow Cooling System. The voice coil uses the same high temperature wire and adhesives as our 9500 Series.

This large diameter voice coil and high energy motor combine to produce the tremendous amount of force needed to reproduce the impact in today's bass intensive music. This motor system also utilizes the DD exclusive FREE FLOW COOLING SYSTEM; separate cooling vents machined into the voice coil, top plate and pole piece which focus cooling air into the magnetic gap. This high-tech, precision machined cooling system actually lowers the working temperature of the voice coil, thereby lowering the stress on the entire audio system. The more the speaker moves, the more air is pumped onto the coil wire.

DETAILSThe 9500 'h' Series was designed with a singular goal in mind, to achieve the highest possible volume levels with a ferrite motor, to do so with the least distortion possible and handle this duty for the long haul. The 9500 models are the most copied and cloned subs in today's car audio market, some even copy the name.

The long gap design keeps the highly e!cient voice coils under power beyond 3 inches of throw. Voice coil control at extreme levels is crucial to clean output. The machined motor structure features the FREE FLOW COOLING SYSTEM which pumps cooling air through and around the voice coil with each and every stroke. DETAILSThe Z series represent the pinochle of transducer archeology. The unique design dates back to the precocious era of unequivocal magnetism and the vector planar research of underwater acoustic proliferation. The open archeology concentrates !ux lines in the magnetic gap while side lobbing interference cancels stray !ux from entering the atmosphere. The result is increased e"ciency overthe entire bandwidth of collaborating bass frequencies. This allows the Z Series woofers to play amazingly loud with little wasted energy being dissipated as unwarranted heat, this means they get on it and don't get real hot.

The Z Series breaks new ground in rare earth magnetics, using newly discovered material, neo-demetrious iron proton (Ned), incalculably more strenuous than the other discovered rare earth magnet material. Ned is highly unstable and very di"cult to modulate, yet alone saturate, so its use is mainly limited to noncommercial phase generators used in anti-matter plasma generation. Digital Designs has acquired the rights to use Ned magnetics in non-military acoustic weaponry and the peaceful development of humanistic cohesion through harmonizing wave generation. The unstable Ned blocks are held in symmetry by the side lobe interference which allows the use of the catchy monolithic block shapes from that cool 2001 space movie. These are spatially arrayed to over saturate the Permendur top plate imported from Switzerland, from one of those really beautiful, lake #lled mountain valleys, giving huge magnetic energy to drive the voice coils.

The moving parts of the Z Series have undergone a minute amount of scrutiny also, the cones feature newly contrived composite materials to handle the extra load lines emulating from the motor, the voice coils are spiral wound in reversing layer directions for optimum e"ciency and the voice coil former is really strong. The combined technological oeuvre nearly eliminates all chance of spurious e$uvium from occuring. The spiders also feature new technology never found on arachnid based suspensions, silkaleneotton. Genetically altered spiders produce a chemical blended thread of silk, polyethylene and cotton. This synthetic blend is superior to our other synthetic blend. The new synthetic blend is stronger than standard arachnid #ber, more !exible than polyunsaturated polyethylene, lighter than water (it actually !oats) and yet so soft and comfortable. This material can stretch to 1.7 times its weight, allowing for un-presidential travel.

The new Z Series woofers have more Watts than any speakers we have ever built, so many Watts they got, that we thought of using a new slogan, Got Watts?, but that's lame so we didn't. We tried to measure the exact amount of Watts a Z Series put out, but all we got was dBs.

The carpeted enclosures sports a beautiful Digital Designs logo stitched on top, and a 4-bar, tubular steel grill (w/mounting hardware) to protect the woofer from rolling grocery bags.

Digital Designs is introducing a line of high e!ciency enclosures; making great bass in a vehicle has never been so easy. The enclosures (when mated with DD subs) have been optimized to yield high output, wide bandwidth and great bass while keeping the overall package size as small as possible.

The DD box system was developed over the last 15 years to deliver maximum energy from a given enclosure size. It is the space that makes the bass, not the surface area of the speakers. We have found the optimal ratios of speaker surface area for given box volumes, and developed the speaker motor/suspension systems to deliver the greatest energy possible over a wide bandwidth.

Delivering higher energy levels requires a lower cone area to port area ratio. DDbox ports do more work in the system while lowering air velocity in the port. DD woofers are made with more motor energy to drive the larger port masses. The higher work load in a DDbox puts more strain on woofers; mated to DD subs, you'll have a reliable, loud and punchy subwoofer system.

The E boxes are made from 5/8” MDF with all seams double sealed for strong, airtight joints. The surface is murdered-out with durable black carpet topped with a huge, red Digital Designs logo embroidered on the top of the box. The speaker is protected by 4 black, tubular-steel grill bars with Allen Drive screws.

The E enclosures place each radiating element, woofer and port, on the same end of the box with the sub and vent 90 degrees o"-axis. This increases placement/loading options inside the vehicle where either the woofer or the port, or both, are located in close proximity to a boundary. The boundary coupling increases the e"ectiveness of the energy transition from the radiating areas to the air. This system design will deliver more energy, operate more linear across the bandwidth, hit harder and sound better. In most cases, a single driver DD system will out pound typical double woofer setups while using less total box space.

The tweeter side of the new coax is our new T1, a compact design, 25mm polymer dome tweeter. This thin mount tweeter uses a high energy neo magnet system to deliver high sensitivity in size constrained applications. The diaphragm material is a rigid polymer formed into a convex/concave shape to increase geometric strength while reducing mass. Everyone needs some nice bass in their life and we set out to make it as easy as possible to add bass to virtually any system. The CM1 delivers 1000 watts of class AB power, enough tight, hard hitting bipolar power to drive a subwoofer enclosure to panel #exing volumes or power through a wicked 6 string bass line. Each pair of channels also feature a 12dB bass boost at 40 Hz.

GREAT ALL PURPOSE AMPSThe C Series amps are our Go-To amps for most daily driving applications. The C amps o$er great sound quality, install friendly features and high-end cosmetics at price points normally associated with budget, entry level o$erings. These high value amps feature stable and reliable class AB circuits, properly sized power supplies matched to high current output sections deliver strong transient response and tight bass, which are ideal for driving either full range or subwoofer applications.

SYSTEM DESIGNThe preamp section gives #exible versatility to accommodate many installation needs. Each channel of the C amps can be set for low pass !ltered operation; high pass !ltered or full range operation. Single channel and 2 channel amps have sub-sonic !lters added in order to band pass the subwoofer range. One amp can be band passed for the sub, a second amp to run mid/high speakers. More complex 3 way systems can be setup for band passing dedicated mid-bass drivers or midrange drivers.

Each pair of channels also feature a 12dB bass boost at 40 Hz. Single channel and 2 channel amps add optional remote gain controls.

THERMAL MANAGEMENTThe heat sink design of the new DD amps yields maximum dissipation for a given amount of length. Horizontal and vertical !ns allow convection cooling from multiple mounting angles. The output devices are mounted on the upper rail, below the top surface where heat can expand to both top !ns and side !ns. The end panels are vented to allow heat buildup to escape the PCB cavity.

SPECIFICATION

The increase in power would normally mean an increase in ampli!er size to deal with increased heat. Since cars are not getting bigger, we went to work on dealing with heat more e"ciently. The new heat sinks carry more thermal mass and maximized !n area to move heat as e"ciently as possible away from the output devices. We were able to increase e#ective output power across the board, while keeping the same overall dimensions of the last generation amps, more power in less space.

HEAT SINKS

We maintained system tuning $exibility with separate subsonic and low pass !lters, 6dB of 40Hz variable bass boost and remote gain control. The DD remote gain allows !ne tuning of bass volume without exceeding the master gain level set on the ampli!er.
