AZUR for Kids AZUR considers the aesthetic features of a bedroom fundamental as it is the child’s first window to the world. Faithful to our company’s motto: “Because there are those who do things for love,” we try to address this by multiplying our commitment, attention and care to make spaces harmonious and beautiful. AZUR products are designed to be highly functional, easy to clean and simple to assemble and disassemble. Quality control on all products is done daily; eve-ry piece is carefully examined and every imperfection is eliminated.

AZUR for Environment In a market where producing at a very low cost is important, AZUR considers it ne-cessary to safeguard the respect for nature and the use of its materials. To produce cots, beds, cupboards, etc., we need precious raw materials, that is why AZUR is attentive to the fact that wood is found in areas where forests are not devastated and natural sites not defaced. Product choices are a reflection of the desire to avoid air pollution and a negative environmental impact. Reuse of excess wood, paint re-covery, and energy savings are just some of the things we do to reduce the load on our environment. Azur has an agreement with the Ecological Consortium Panel and uses panels made from 100% post-consumer wood.

AZUR for Social Mutual respect and esteem among employees are the basis of every stage of the production process. AZUR deeply believes that fundamental values such as frater-nity and solidarity in our society should always be more visible in the world. This atti-tude has been the driving force of the “Economy of Communion” project, shared by some 750 companies worldwide. These companies freely choose to put in common and equally, a part of their profits towards three goals: helping disadvantaged peo-ple, creating new jobs and providing basic needs to the poor (www.edc-online.org). Moreover, for some years now AZUR has also supported AMU or Associazione per un Mondo Unito (Action for a United World) for its Adoption at a Distance project (www.famiglienuove.org).

AZUR for Security AZUR products are made with carefully chosen materials; attentive to every sta-ge of the manufacturing process and ensuring each item’s safety and durability. A child’s health is our priority; we only choose resistant materials and non-toxic water-based paints. AZUR also has modern machines which ensure full security for all employees. All our products comply with European laws. All paints used are non-toxic in full compliance with UNI EN 71-3; all our beds are made in full compliance with UNI EN 716-1; all electrical components of our products are CE marked; all the furniture with shells using chipboard panels E1 class; low emis-sion of formaldehyde in full compliance with UNI EN 120.

AZUR (it’s name comes from the Italian word “azzurro” (blue), chosen as an expression of beauty and harmony), took it’s first steps in Loppiano, Florence, Tuscany, in 1967. AZUR’s first activities began in three small sheds with a couple of band saws, a few sanders, a lathe and a small cabin for varnishing, all of which brought ahead the manufacturing of wooden furniture and decorative frames made from olive tree roots. Several workers with creative and artistic abilities would then complete and finish each product.

In the 80’s, AZUR began it’s development of baby furniture. It all began with applied aereogra-phed decorations on a baby crib. Since, at that time nothing similar existed in the market, the new product ignited a vivid interest among experts in the field. Along with the baby crib later came a matching closet and this was how “Linea Bimbo” was born. “Linea Bimbo” included tender and delicate illustrations of rabbits, clouds and rainbows, all of which drew attention to AZUR’s special regard for quality and the safety of the child. The next addition was the “ba-gnetto fasciatoio” or babybath-changing table, which expanded the range of available products to complete a baby room.

Today AZUR’s product range has expanded to have a more complete choice of products for newborns. The company, now a leader in the field, has developed more than 9,000 different goods to be able to offer a vast variety of unique lines of newborn products to the market.

Today, over 600 stores sell our products all over Italy. In 2008, a process of international expan-sion began creating partnerships and contacts for the distribution of AZUR’s products abroad.

CarpentryAZUR assures that every piece of wood comes from certified areas that respect the process of refore-station. This helps guarantee a natural exchange of life on earth. The production cycle begins with the arrival of raw materials to the carpentry wing where a qualified staff cuts the wooden panels. The mate-rials are then moved to the mill where they are sanded and cut preparing them for the following phase of varnishing and painting. Finally, every single piece is thoroughly checked and finished by hand.

The following are some materials used by AZUR:Beech: a hardwood that is both solid and flexible. It is used to construct the High Chair, Crib, Baby Changing Table, etc.Maple: utilized to veneer the doors of the Wardrobe and the frontside of the Chest of drawers of the “Linea Gold”.Birch: superimposed and crossed thin layers of wood make this material particularly resistant and long-lasting. It is used to create all of the drawers, the accessories of the “Linea Gold” and other parts of the product.MDF: this material is used to build the doors of the Wardrobe, the front side of the Drawers, some hea-dboards and footboards of cribs and the majority of accessories.Chipboard: thanks to its strength and the fact that it is made with 100% recycled wood (therefore no trees are cut down to make this wood), it is particularly adapt for the bodies of the furniture.

PaintworkAll colored products are painted by a highly qualified staff that uses only non-toxic paints, fulfilling the European standards of UNI EN 71-3. After various stages of sanding, where every single piece is che-cked and finished off manually, all of the semi-finished goods are brought into the painting headquarters for a final coating of paint.

AssemblageAZUR assembles all of its furniture by hand and in its own factory. This provides both an accurate quality control and a personal touch to our unique products. After a detailed cleaning and inspection the product is assembled, packed and shipped.

Craftsmanship and TechniquesAZUR strongly believes that our human touch and our handcrafted techniques are essential to the pro-duction process; such a philosophy guarantees parents unique high quality products of rich value. The elegant furniture set of the “Liberty” collection is enriched by the processes of coating, sponging and painting by hand, using techniques performed by Tuscan experts. Each oval piece and panel is unique because they have been tastefully decorated and worked on individually. Every single collection and item is designed and manufactured with the best technical solutions. This has helped create, among other things, an object of deserved success such as “Il Seggiolo”, which has an international patent. It also shows characteristics of adaptability, sturdiness, ease of use and durability. Another detailed work is the drawers which are made with four sides in plywood and metal slidings on the rails, allowing the product to maintain its shape. In addition, the doors and the front of the “Linea Gold” are made with tra-ditional artisan techniques, which include solid edges and corners that are carefully rounded to improve appearance and reduce the possibility of any accidents.

AirbrushAZUR designs include an airbrushing technique, giving their collections a delicate and captivating look. The airbrush process is a highly creative artistic work which provides the wood with a look of warmth and softness. Each application is like a puzzle with each piece carved, inlaid with a hacksaw, numbered, and colored one by one with an airbrush to later be patiently assembled and composed. All lacquers and paints are water-based and non-toxic.
